 ruption\nThe next Drop-in Day is in Huddersfield at the National Child
 ren's Centre, and looks for an informative day, as well as the chance 
 to meet with existing sleep apnoea sufferers. Representatives will be 
 there with their CPAP machines and masks, and we will be there too wit
 h the products.\nThere are planned talks on the following topics:\nCen
 tral Sleep Apnoea\n(You have central sleep apnoea when you stop breath
 ing in sleep but you don't snore. It means that your brain forgets to 
 command your body to breathe. In other words, central sleep apnoea occ
 urs when the airway is NOT blocked, but the brain fails to signal the 
 muscles to breathe because there is an underlying problem with the ner
 ves that control breathing).\nCentral Sleep Apnoea is being diagnosed 
 in a greater number of patients being referred to the Sleep Service, a
 nd Martin Latham (St James’s Sleep Service ) will give a talk on thi
 s subject in the morning and afternoon sessions . Positional Apnoea Ac
 cording to the experts at the American College of Chest Physicians, as
  many as 60% of the patients with obstructive sleep apnoea experience 
 a lowering of symptoms when they slept on their side as opposed to on 
 their back. They estimate that as many as 50% of the people that exper
 ience sleep apnoea could be successfully treated by using positional t
 herapy.  Johan Terpstra (Intus Healthcare ) will give a talk on this 
 subject in the morning and afternoon sessions . Diabetes and Apnoea A 
 member of the St James’s Team will give a presentation on this key t
 opic. More information will be available on the day! Practical Session
 s There will also be practical sessions on: • Mask fitting • Routi
 ne maintenance of your CPAP\n\nThere will also be time to talk with fe
 llow patients and clinicians without feeling hurried!\nTea and Coffee 
 will be available throughout the day. You are welcome to bring a picni
 c, but there are cafes close by.\nStalls\n• We will have jams and ho
 me baking for sale • A Tombola • A Bring and Buy stall for paperba
 ck books and jigsaws. A guide price is £1.00 per item.\nAll money rai
 sed on these stalls is used to support the work of the Support Group a
