The final answer is to change my mask back to a F & P Flexifit 432 which has reduced my 95% pressure by up to 4cm.. Last night my 95% pressure was 16.1 with a AHI of 0.6

EDAM SAID: "I have had problems with my Resmed S9 APAP staying at 20 cm for 2-3 hours at a time which wrecks me the next day."

This is not the first time I have seen someone reporting a ResMed S9/S10 going to 20 and staying there!

I have not seen any solution to this yet, other than to disconnect the power and wait until the internal power runs down (20sec) but this may not apply to the UK anyway, we tend to turn off the power to these machines during the day…

I have not seen any solution to this yet, other than to disconnect the power and wait until the internal power runs down (20sec) but this may not apply to the UK anyway, we tend to turn off the power to these machines during the day anyway (unlike the Americans who leave everything on standby) so this might not be a solution.

I would look in the settings, but unless you know your way around, I would give this a miss. However, if you have the manual with it, it tells you how to do things in it, just look at what it is set at. I would limit the MAX pressure to say 16 to see what happens. You can always put it back. But it might be interesting to see what happens, the alternative is to go the the Sleep Clinic with it.
Sleep2snore said:

Despite changing to a Airsense 10 Autoset Im still having the high pressures and the Sleepyhead waveforms still show that im double inhaling .

In really struggling now . Its taking me all day to recover from the battering the machine gives me at night .

EPR just reduces the pressure when you breathe out, this makes it easier to breathe out when on higher pressure.

Current thought is that the higher setting the EPR is the higher pressure is required, however I have not found this, but it does affect my AHI, it goes up slightly when using a higher number of EPR!

I have found out why setting the EPR to 3 resolves the problem with high pressure .

Setting the EPR to 3 smoothes out the waveform between exhale and inhale . I have read this about Remstar A flex but not Resmeds EPR.

I have Sleepyhead graphs showing that between Exhale and Inhale the waveform stays on the zero line which is not the case when the EPR is set to 2

I thought EPR was just a comfort feature

Im on Warfarin for life because of leg DVT,s and Warfarin would be stopped 5 days before the operation. This could leave me at risk of another DVT.. Also the last time my Warfarin was stopped I has to self inject Heparin so my belly turned into a very bruised pin cushion.

Also I weigh 135Kg so a general anesthetic would be risky

As the consultant said " I can still breath through my mouth"
