Sleep Apnoea Forum Bringing Help + Support to the Patient

I have been using above machine for years on autoset mode. as the pressures are getting quite high I decided to engage the EPR function. nowhere on the clinical menu or standard menu is there any mention of EPR. I turned the machine to CPAP Mode and there is option on standard menu and clinical menu to set and adjust the settings for EPR. I am totally baffled by this. the literature I have looked at says there should be and option to engage EPR during Autoset Mode. maybe the machine is faulty. any advice would be great. The hospital no longer support this machine and offered a non autoset S9 which has no access to compliance data etc so I prefer my autoset machine.

As you know Ged the S8 Spirit is an old machine, and I understand why you're loathe to give it up if your clinic supplies machines with no data.  I do recall from many years ago there was talk that the international version of the Auto Spirit didn't have EPR, even though the USA version did.  However, it seems strange that it's available on CPAP mode but not on APAP, and I can't remember if that was an issue.  If it's not in the clinical settings it might be the case.  You could try calling Resmed on 0800 917 7071 to see if they can help, although they'll probably try to talk you into upgrading lol.

It should be there, but may be locked out.

Manual S8 Series II

Thanks for your replies. I have looked at the manual and as advised there should be EPR on autoset. I have done a factory reset on the machine and still no EPR on autoset yet still there on CPAP. I am guessing that there is no EPR facility on this variant for autoset. I will just have to deal with it using autoset as a diagnostic for correct pressure from time to time and use CPAP as my regular setting. hopefully pressures will go back down if I can lose some weight.

It may be what I suspected, that it wasn't available on your international version, as I remember people complaining about it many years ago.  If it helps to know I never found EPR helpful when I was on CPAP (I'm on VPAP now).  Hope your old failthful machine keeps going for a long time to come and good luck with the weight loss.

I can't see why they would have it on CPAP and not on AUTO, I suspect it has been locked out by sleep clinic, resetting will not help.

It might be right that earlier models might not have EPR as I do remember seeing something about that, but why would it be on CPAP and not an APAP?

I would contact the manufacturer ResMed to confirm it either has or has not got it.

I found ResMed to be helpful enough in the past when I have contacted them, though they will not help when it comes to repairs etc, it s a case of it has to be repaired by them or their agents, which is only sleep lads and they send them to ResMed.

I would give them a phone or email them.

I just can't get my head round why they would have it on CPAP and not on APAP?

I never used to use EPR on my old machines, but with this new one I am forced to as if I don't the Nasal Pillows jump when I breath out and this wakes me up.  ResMed 0800 917 7071 or fill in the form at   ResMed Contact us.

There is a email address on this page if you want to contact them direct.

ResMed Mysleep - Customer/user contact.

Ah!  this is in quote mode, however as I am lazy it should still work, wait or I test it, YES it does.
