Obtaining reasonably priced pre-loved equipment without hassle

I know how difficult it is for anyone in the U.K. to obtain pre-used cpap equipment and accessories and new items are out of reach for many. I used to work in America and 10 years ago found this wonderful website and have used them several times over the yearshttp://www.secondwindcpap.com/ . If you or a family member or friend need a back-up machine take a look at their website – it could be an answer to your prayers at a reasonable cost. They have straight forward cpap machines for as little as $95 which at todays rate is £71.24, there is of course shipping on top, which they emailed me is “Shipping internationally for soft goods, such as tubing, filters, or just a humidifier or mask would be $30. International shipping for devices is generally a higher weight and includes the tubing and power supply, and is at a cost of $85.” Convert at $1.00 = 75p . I told them how difficult it is for NHS patients to get a prescription but they said they could help, I quote email “The only devices we would need a script for are the BIPAP and advanced BIPAP devices. We can work with you if the customers know their settings or if they are purchasing auto devices.” Obviously, everything they supply is pre-used but sanitised and supplied with new tubing and new water chambers, they have vast stocks and provide technical back up and very importantly they always mark the customs declaration as second hand/used medical items to avoid the payment of duties in the U.K. This last point is very important as I found out to my cost with other U.S. suppliers because if the journey is interrupted by customs you have to pay V.A.T. and additional postage from the customs holding centre.

"I am the same, do you convert power twice at a cost to power, or do you get the dc/dc adapter and save on power.  The power adapter can protect against reversed polarity and cut off the power if the voltage in the battery gets to low.  It…"

"No, the meter is in the shed built in for now. It is an odd plug, otherwise you could build your own power supply. I think this is a special made plug just for ResMed machines. I have never seen one before anyway!"
