Sleep Apnoea Forum Bringing Help + Support to the Patient

Hi everyone,

ive just joined the site, so this is my first post so it's possible this is an old topic!!

I've been on Cpap therapy for 10 days now but my full face mask (ResMed AirFit F10 medium)

is making the bridge of my nose so sore. I've adjusted the straps in all different tensions etc,

I've tried the Phillip's gel nose pads, I even change the above mask to a large just in case the medium

was to small but still look like I've done a few rounds in the boxing ring!!

I have been looking at various masks on the market but there are so many. One I looked at was the very

full face mask that sits on your forehead down to your chin. Some reports I've read say you shouldn't put the Cpap air pressure on the eyes? Like this mask would do.

Another one I have looked at is the one that goes over the mouth then there are two grommets that go up your nose. Are these comfy! Or would the grommets stretch the nose and become sore?

HELP PLEASE!!!!

Thank You.

I have exactly the same problems as you Sean with the 'traditional' style of full face masks which is why I avoid them like the plague, except when I'm testing new ones.  People like us tend to struggle more if we have both a receding jaw and either a bump on the nasal bridge or a slim bridge (I have all 3).  Before going to the expense of a mask, it would be worth you trying a Silent Night Liner on top of the Philips LiquiCell nose pad http://www.hope2sleep.co.uk/silent-night-mask-liners.html

For me personally, I have 3 favourite masks, but do bear in mind that my favourites may not be yours.  I use the FitLife and air doesn't blow into the eyes incidentally, the Amara View and the Hybrid.  You could ask your hospital if they're able to let you try at least one of them, but if you do need to purchase one then contact us as sales@hope2sleep.co.uk or on 0300 102 9711 so we can help you better.

Hi Kath,
