Exciting times Will when we know we're getting a new machine.  My kids often have a giggle at me and say I get more excited by a new mask or CPAP comfort product than when I get a new pair of shoes :-D  The S9 series have been good machines, although of course the S10 Airsense are now on the market.  I've heard from lots of people who found they got even better and more comfortable therapy when upgrading from the S8 to the S9 - same goes for upgrades from other manufacturers.  Apart from improved upgrade features, just getting a new machine will be beneficial.  If you get the S9 Escape there will be no data on it to prove how well the CPAP is treating you, but the Elite and Autoset models have this.  Let us know how you go.

Thanks Kath. The clinic mention that they're getting the S10's but I guess it's all about being in the right place at the right time. I love my current machine if that's not too strong a way to describe it. It's been a life changer for me as I'm sure everyone will appreciate but I feel like a kid in a sweetie shop just now and can't wait to get the new toy. It's a little quieter by all accounts. After years of putting up with my nocturnal symphony I'm not sure Mrs C will quibble about the 2 dcb difference.

Have to laugh. First night with a new cushion last night blew the hose right off the S8. Had me wondering if it knew what is about to happen. Very Herbbie like!

Ha Ha Will - love your humour  and I do know what you mean about loving your current machine too.  I know many people who actually give their CPAP a name.  I daren't tell you what I called mine in the beginning, but I did fall in love eventually when I started to feel the benefits after getting comfortable good therapy.

Couple of weeks in I'm feeling the difference from my new toy. Feel much more refreshed in the morning and waking less through the night. Coincidence maybe?

Arrived in the USA yesterday and absolutely shattered. Don't feel I'm getting quite the pressure I need. My wife said I'm snoring terribly and to be honest I've woken myself up. Unfortunately no drink involved to point to that as an excuse. Wondering if the power supply has anything to do with it? Kath, do you have any thoughts?

Good to hear that back home you're feeling the benefit of the new machine Will.  However, with you now being in the USA you're probably at a higher altitude so needing more pressure.   This is a problem when people are on fixed pressures and travel to different altitudes.  Jeg lag can also need a change in pressure.  It's a difficult one Will with you being away from home, and might be worth a call or email to your clinic so they can advise you, and try to find out what the altitude is where you are.  Here's a study they did on this http://journal.publications.chestnet.org/article.aspx?articleid=106...

That's really interesting Kath and I'd never have given it consideration. That said I live in Glasgow and having travelled to Florida my gut feeling is I should inflate like a balloon.

I used a mask reserved for sore outbreaks last night. I've recently had a new Quattro cushion. It's going to sound daft but I find I have to break these in as they shred the bridge of my nose when they're new. After a few weeks and several washes they usually start to work well. Unlike my reserved Paykel. I get one go and it's my new best friend. Then the next night it gets cockey, digs in, starts leaking around my eyes, leaves marks and generally annoys the hell out of me.

I'll see how it goes tonight and if not great I'll call Edinburgh on Monday.

Ha Ha Will, I certainly hope you haven't inflated like a balloon :-D  That's interesting about having to 'break in' the masks as some people say they find when brand new the masks are fine, but it's after washing that their problems happen.  We're all different though, and for me I'm a big believed in rotating masks so the same parts of my face isn't under the same pressure each night.  Of course, that's not possible if people have only found one suitable mask, but after many years of therapy I've found 2 that work well for me!

Hope things are getting better by now and you're enjoying your holiday.
