Hi Lisa and a warm welcome to the forum, where it's my 'hope' that folk will get answers to their own questions and share their experience with others. Above all, it's nice to chat with fellow sufferers, so enjoy your time on here.
Hi Lisa. Pleased to have you back after your computer problems. I have a feeling you're going to be a valuable member to newbies to sleep apnoea who, hopefully, find us for support. Thanks for joining us :)
Lisa, Nice to have you in Aus even if it is Sydney. I was probably being a bit slack when I said there are no support groups, I meant I hadn't really bither looking and my Dr didn't suggest any. I have look up Sleep Disorders Australia which says they have them but when I try to send them a message the Email crashes. I'll give them a call on Monday. Have a good weekend.
Sorry I have been on night duty so a little slow in answering your request. I have not doing well with this cpap for some reason and I think it may be the masks but still struggling with it. I will definately try to make the conference in Sept. I hope you are enjoying yourself in Australia :) wish it was me :). Will catch up with you when you get back.
Lisa, I am having trouble sending you this via messaging.
Lisa, how long are you in Australia for? If it's not long your probably not going to get into a sleep Dr. Also our health system is shocking, public takes a huge amount of time but is free and private is quicker but for sleep apnea you have to pay most of the costs yourself. I wasn't sure why you needed to see a Dr as well? If it's going to be a while and you go private, I can ring around and see if anyone can suggest a Dr in Sydney. I'm in Melbourne but my Dr may know someone good up there.
I was going to ask about the flight, I read that you used the CPAP on the plane, did you get any questions from the attendents or other passengers? I'll planning a trip to the US shortly and was wondering what others thought of it.
Lisa, I'm trying what you suggested re the message but still having problems. If your going back at the end of March you may not have time to see a Sleep Dr here. On the plane, thanks for the info, I'm not sure when we are going to the US. I have a very old dog (17 years) who has had a stroke and is half blind and half deaf and has a special diet. We can't leave him so will wait till he passes away before we go. Just planning but haven't booked anything.
Lisa, I finally got an Email through to Sleep Disorders Australia.
I'll wait for a reply, in Melbourne meetings are on the 3rd Thursday at night in the city.
Not sure if I'll go as it is difficult to park in the city.
I have given you the details for the NSW group.
They don't seem very organised.

Lisa, Thanks for the info, I'm a member of sleep vantage as I have a Resmed CPAP and mask, it doesn't cost anything but to date I haven't got anything either. They are supposed to mail out info on new equipment etc. I listen to Dr Park every second week when his is on and yes sometimes I get the times wrong. It's actually good that it's 12.00 noon our time so I have lunch listening to him. Have a good weekend. Terry
Lisa, glad to see you like Aus, my father in law is from Scotland so my wife is half and half, but he has been here about 50 years and hasn't been back. I've decided to give Sleep Disorders Australia a miss because they didn't get back to me and want to charge a membership fee and meeting fee. I get more out of this site and others for free. Thaks for telling me about daylight savings in NY, we change at the end of this month and will be back to 16 hours ahead of time, I think. I get lost, wht can't we all be on the same time lol, it would make things a lot easier. I have a couple of people at my work that work in Newcastle and commute to Sydney most days, I think it's about a 2 hour drive, anyway have a good weekend.
thank you for your comments, i do indeed go to Ninewells. Just diagnosed last month, so only been the twice, i go back on 16th April, and will have questions written down this time lol
reading previous posts i gather your over in sunny australia, lucky you. i was over in brisbane for 6 weeks last year and loved every minute of it. saving up hard for another visit, but want to go business class, so probably wont be for 4 or 5 years, unless lottery comes up.
Lisa, how was your trip back? Did you use your CPAP on the plane going back? You probably went back at the right time, it's starting to get cooler here but I like it that way I can sleep better.
Lisa, I think I have said to Kath before that a Aussie winter day is like a English summer day LOL, only joking. The weather in Melbourne has really been nice, cool nights and mornings but sunny days. Good luck with the battery
