I’ve had my CPAP mask over a year now and generally happy with it but the one issue I have is the pressure it puts under and around my eyes. I don’t think it is from air leakage as my eyes themselves don’t feel dry, it’s around my eyes that is the problem. It increasingly feels sore, tender and swollen particularly under my eyes. Occasionally it spreads to the outer corners of my eyes and to my eyelids meaning I can’t even open them fully first thing. It then gets better throughout the day & with applying hot damp cotton wool pads.
It’s not something I’ve heard talked about much as a side effect so wondered if anyone else suffered or had any solutions? If I make my mask less tight to relieve the pressure then the straps come loose whilst I’m asleep & air escapes.

This was posted elsewhere by me, but it might be of use to you as the mask is more like a Hybrid mask and uses gel cushions for the nose and covers the mouth. This should put no pressure on the eyes.
There is a full-faced mask that does not even come up the nose now made by Repseronics, it has gell nasal pillows and a mouth mask all in one mask. I have NOT tried it, but others that have say it is good if it suits you. I say this as all masks do not suit everyone.
It is called a Philips Respironics DreamWear, look it up and here is a review done by LankyLefty, he does clown around a bit, but he does this for a living so look for the serious advice. Resperonics DREAMWEAR Mask LeftyLanky review.
Your Sleep Clinic might not stock it, but you could ask, make sure you get the correct size, if you buy it, make sure there is a 30 day return option.
There might be a sizing kit for these, so do check as you will need the correct size.
I quite fancy one of these myself, though I have used Nasal Pillows for so long I would be reluctant to change. This looks as if it might be a good option for me though.
This mask might be a good option for you.
If nothing else, check it out with other reviews: BELOW
ResMed also do Hybrid masks, but they are more like Nasal Pillows stuck on top of a mouth mask.
These all look as if they are made by the same manufacturer to me, but they are an alternitive, however the Dreamwear looks better. Make sure you get the right size of cushion for the nose.
No, I do not have shares in Resperonics. I usually prefer their competiors equipment.
