Sleep Apnoea Forum Bringing Help + Support to the Patient

At clinic, on wednesday,  my sleep nurse said she would have to  get me funding for a Resmed Quattro FX Full Face mask, for me.I must have been given at least 6 masks, to keep, over the past few weeks. I was not expecting to get the funding after all of the masks I have already been given, but none work very well. You can imagine how surprised I was when she telephoned, me this morning to tell e she had the mask there for me. She ordered a small and a medium. I have always had medium. I went straight to get it. When I got home, the sizing tool, which comes with it was in the bag. I put the mask on, following instructions from nurse and handbook. I was amazed when it looked to big for me. I measured my face with the fitting tool and it said  needed small. I telephoned the hospital and was told to take it back to the nurse and try the small. The nurse measured my face and fitted the small mask. We were both surprised but it really does fit well. We should have used the measuring device in the firdt place andd not rely on the fact that  always have medium. Not in these I don'i. I will try it out tonight and let you know how it scores. Night everyone.

Weren't you the lucky one!

You point up a very important requirement for ALL masks and headgear - to measure your face with the measuring tool for the particular mask; to then fit the mask and make sure your have the right sized headgear (all Resmed mask such as the Quattro and Q FX come with a medium headgear).

I wonder if all your six other masks were actually the right size for you and that you should not, in fact, always take a medium. The fact that all six were not satisfactory suggests to me that some were the wrong size.

Good luck with ther Q FX - they are brilliant! (except for the headgear stretching, anyway).

Last night was my first night with my new Resmed Quattro FX full face mask. It was brilliant. No leaks. No movement and no facial marks. All my other masks have not sealed, or have moved. I really think that this is the one for me. It felt right from the moment I put it on. I must stress that, if you want one of these masks, it is very important to get your face measured before getting the mask.
