Sleep Apnoea Forum Bringing Help + Support to the Patient

Last week I received (in US) a ResMed Nano- it's a very small nasal mask, a copy of the Wisp.

Except for the headgear being different and the small tube not detaching easily from the frame the Nano could be the Wisp.  I found the headgear  counterintuitive to fit.  I had to go to directions and usually don't need to read directions on the mask.  Reading directions is a good idea, I just don't trial that many new masks.  I was having trouble with leaks the past several nights until last night I made an adjustment to the headgear I think will help.  The cushion is floppy and thin, but fills with air easily and now that I think it's adjusted properly I hope it will seal properly and stay sealed.  So far I've not been able to sleep on my side with this mask, only on my back as the mask gets pushed up or to the side losing the seal when I turn to my side. To take the Nano off I just pull the headgear over my head without unclipping or unfastening anything. I think the Nano is easier to take off and on than the Wisp.

Back to my Wisp, when I first started I thought this was the best mask ever.  I had 0 leaks and it was comfortable.  Then I started having trouble with leaks and didn't use the mask routinely.  Then I figured that the cushion works for a disappointing three weeks for me before it starts leaking. I ordered a new Wisp cushion and when that comes I will give it a second try.  I like the detaching little hose on the Wisp when I have to use the BR. I do best on my back with the Wisp also.

I have return insurance for the Nano and will return it next week.  It clearly is a more expensive duplicate of the Wisp.

Hope everyone slept well.

Mary

I saw the Nano at a recent SA Event and thought it looked like the Wisp Mary, but as of yet I don't know anyone else who has tried it.  Up to now, we're not hearing problems of people having mask leaks with the Wisp after a while.  Most of our customers are using the Citrus II Cleaning Wipes or Sprays on their cushions.  Do you use these products Mary?  The Wisp at the moment has been the most successful new entry onto the market here in the UK and I wish I could use it myself.

It might be something to do with the wipes you're using Mary, as I tried different ones before finding out the Citrus II ones were the best for thoroughly removing all our facial oils.  Even baby wipes don't work as good as their are other additives in them.  Might be worth you trying the Citrus ones to see what you think, and they're not too expensive if you cut them in half, as they're ample big enough and really strong too.  Anyway, we'll see how things go on this side of the pond, but so far so good.......
