Thanks Kath. I've bought new firm bed pillows, tonight. Maybe they might help. I'll keep you informed.
Good luck with them and try to relax. Keep thinking that, although you still have a high AHI, it's a massive improvement on before, which can only be good!

Sounds like you are a victim of two things - worry and an NHS set bi-APAP. So stop worrying, you'll be fine until the day you die and then it's too late. Worrying achieves absolutely nothing except stress and illness.
I just bet your machine is set wide open - 4 and 20cm - and that is why your AHI is so high. Odds on!

Thank you so much, Kath. It's great to have someone who understands. My hubby, of 34 years, just doesn't understand at all. Could you do me a small blog roughly telling him this is a dangerous condition and what severe apnoea involves. He thinks that as I am not actually waking up then I'm not having any apnoeas, 24+ at the moment.. Help would be much apreciated.

None of us are made worrying, Carolyn - it's a habit or way of being we learn. That means we can um-learn if we want.
What is the pay-off for worrying for you? What do you NOT have to do or look at because you choose to use your energy worrying? Could it be not taking responsibility?
Hi Carolyn,
Of course it isn't easy Carolyn. Of course you are going to be worried. You need helpful advice and most of the time you will get that on this forum. We need to be reminded what the forum is for. It is there so we can benefit from each other's experiences and feel supported; not alone and struggling without anyone who really knows what it all feels like.
You need to talk with your sleep unit. These things are difficult and it is ongoing. To unlearn behaviours such as worry, you need to be given behavioural therapy and you certainly can't give this to yourself! Behavioural psychology won't get rid of your OSA so advisors should think carefully before telling you that you can unlearn your worrying ways.
I have been on cpap and now apap for more than two and a half years and I still get bad nights and don't always get it right. I suppose we just do our best and if we get it right a lot of the time, we are a heck of a lot better than if we weren't getting the treatment. My life has completely turned around since starting on cpap and it has saved my life. Be brave. Use the comfort products (hope2sleep sell lots of them) and ask your unti for help whenever you are worried. They will look at settings and pressure. My unit don't give me much ongoing support but they answer any queries and if I ask they see me earlier. Don't be put off by negative comments you may get or people who might make you feel like you are being silly.
