Sleep Apnoea Forum Bringing Help + Support to the Patient

I have recently found a pillow that is designed for CPAP users

http://www.mobilitysmart.cc/putnams-advanced-memory-foam-cpap-pillo...

and it seemed to provide answers to some of my problems.  Before buying I thought I would ask if anyone had any experience, at £60 + I thought it was worth checking out first

I have the exact same pillow here David and unfortunately it didn't work for me   I have actually spent a lot of money on 5 different similar style of pillows over the years without success.  The idea of the pillow is good, but if your neck is not the right size for the pillow so that your mask ends exactly in the cut-out then it won't achieve what it's been designed to do.  It also depends on what type of mask you are using and full face masks have a greater risk of not working.  A lot of CPAP users also find that memory foam isn't the best material to use as it's not soft enough to prevent mask marks on the face.

We are currently working on an alternative pillow, but can't tell you at this stage when it will be ready.  What I can say though is that it will not be in that kind of price bracket.  The newsletter list, this forum and Facebook will be the first people to know when it is ready.  Meanwhile, if you do take the risk, let us know what you think.

Hi Kath,

Many thanks for your prompt response.  Some of the things you mentioned were causing doubt in my mind, hence my post.

The size thing was one, they only mention large, medium and small,  I use a medium full face mask so would that do as a measure?  It would seem you would have to strike lucky to hit the indent every time, a bit like golf.

I have tried one of those shaped pillows that fit into the neck and ended up with a sore back.

Thanks for saving my money at your expense!  I will wait with anticipation with your alternative.

regards David

You're welcome David and as I stated, that has been my personal experience and no doubt they do work for some people.  We actually sold a similar CPAP pillow on the website several years ago, but the feedback was coming back to me giving only about 20-25% success in the customers who bought it, and that wasn't high enough for me to continue to offer it so we stopped!  There will be no guarantees of our own pillow of course, but the difference will be that it has been designed by a CPAP user and tested on CPAP users which should hopefully higher the positive overall results

I was curious whether anyone has used the CPAP Total Face Masks and could pass on their observations? I've been using an Airfit F20 for years which is fine apart from the permanent red mark on the bridge of my nose, and have recently tried the…See More

Pressure waking me up. Belching and wind

HiI'm using the prisma smart max machine. Initially I was just on a nasal mask, this changed as I was sleeping with my mouth open. I then went to face and nose mask and complained of bad wind and belching. Sometimes the pressure in the night was…See More
