Hi all - I’m hoping you can help me figure out how to deal with a problem I’m having with using my CPAP machine?
I often suffer from allergies - ie sneezing, blocked nose etc - during summer. Even though I make sure my nose is unblocked before putting my mask on I often find after an hour that my throat is tickling and phlegm collects at the back of my throat forcing me to remove the mask.
I use a humidifier and full face mask.
How can I combat against allergies and post nasal drip while using the machine?
any tips are greatly appreciated
kind regards
Leoni

With my ResMed AirSense 10, I increase the humidity to maximum and also have the heated tube temperature at maximum. I find that this Helps / Makes a Huge Improvement.
Are you using a HypoAlergic (air) filter? Or, try an Hypoallergenic In-Line Filter. I see some has just listed one on here.
Thank you so much - I was wondering whether I should get a heated tube as well. I'm not sure which filter I'm using but I'll check!
Hi
I had issues with nasal irritation and a lot of sneezing. I've since gone onto a fine white air intake filter on my machine and it's helped. I was originally using a foam piece which obviously wasn't filtering out the particles that was giving me irritation.
Hello David,
Check and see if a Hypoallergenic filter is available for your CPAP machine (or for your additional filter). If so, it Should be better for you, and it wouldn’t require an additional filter (which somewhat restricts the pressured air). Just an idea!
