I would be grateful for any body else who has suffered from 'dry socket' after tooth extraction. I wear a full face mask as I am a mouth breather. I use my CPAP every night but have had to use it for short periods or not at all for the past 10 days. The air pressure causes the wound sight to get very painful. anybody with any suggestions of how to reduce the pain (other than painkillers) and be able to comfortably use CPAP. This is quite a painful condition which is not helped by lack of proper sleep. Thank you

I had this same conversation with my own dentist after a tooth extraction. My dentist also has sleep apnoea himself and said that CPAP isn't likely to cause dry socket and advised me to continue using my CPAP as good oxygen is needed for healing. However, if you have developed a dry socket that's a different matter and apart from trying things like hot flannels around the area I'm not sure what else can help during this time. Maybe a call to the dentist would be helpful. If you have a heated humidifier try increasing it and keep the bedroom warm so that the CPAP air won't be as cold. The last thing you need is lack of sleep, along with the pain. Hope you get well soon.
