Hello all.
My son is 3 and has always been a poor sleeper from birth. He has had numeouros health problems, from bronclitis to asthma.
We recently got referred to ent bcus he had glue ear.
I mentioned his sleepin how poor it was,and that he sleep talks. Alway tired, and behaoiur is hard work in the daytime.
So arranged a sleep study.
Results was sleep apnea.
Least seconds stop breathing was 15 most being 90!! Numerous times.
They are goin to take his adenoid and tonsils out in the next 6 weeks.
I'm bloody petrifed tho,now set up camp in his room to watch him.
Is there anythin i can do??
Also anyone out there with kids simalir age? Can u offer any advice, exp etc.
Thankyou.

Thanks Leisa.
He's having a repeat sleep study done anyway hopefully soon..so should get our answers then. Yes my son has done this before for a stretch of a few nights, but not recently he hasn't. Anyway we shall see. Fingers crossed. If it hasn't cured it then we shall face the prospect of a cpap if it comes down to that, and shall no doubt be seeking you're advice.
I'm glad your son tolerates it, though makes things easier for u. Shame u are still getting up though to sort it out - goodness..Never ends does it? Never knew that about adenoids - gosh.
Thank you for your advice and good luck to u and you're son huni.

Hi
I have a 3 and 5 year old both of whom had there tonsils and adnoids removed as well as supraglottoplasty as they have a floppy larynx
We did notice the work to breath did lessen with the surgery and were suprised how quickly they bounced back all I can suggest is to keep with regular pain relief for a week after tonsil removal
Good Luck and I hope it is the fix for him

Just read the whole post to see he has had surgery :) it can take 6 weeks for the swelling to go down infact my youngest it was almost 8 weeks before we saw any change
Im glad he is getting a repeat study
We have just started cpap on my almost 3 year old and the difference is amazing
It's 8 weeks now,and i have notice a diff the last 8 nights now. He has gt a bad cough atm ,but this doesn't seem to b affecting him like it normally would so i'm actually thinking that it may well of worked....god i hope so.In fact i'd be surprised if study came back abnormal . But i could be being to optimistic here...hopefully not though. :)
What's a supraglottoplasty??

Sounding a bit more hopeful Tracey, so keeping everything crossed for you that the sleep study brings the news you're hoping for :)
Glad you have started to see subtle differences glad his cold isnt making him work hard like before ....
Supraglottoplasty is removing excess tissues from the larynx /voice box as he has laryngomalacia
Good luck for the study will look for your update post

Study is tomor hopefully get results quickly
So sorry to hear this Tracey and good job the study time has come around. Let us know how it goes and we'll all be thinking of you both.
Well i think it went well. His oxygen lvls were between 90 and 92. when i changed it over half way thru night it went up to 95. His heart rate was between 75 to 80 don't know what that one means tho. I know the oxygen was good. So finger crossed.

Good to hear about the 02. When do they give you the study results as to apnoeas etc?
I did see the heart rate drop to 67 at one time too but i dont think any lower than that..i mean i did sleep in between, but i Aassume these levels are good?
