Sorry the forum hasn't been as active as normal as all of us at the Hope2Sleep Charity have hardly had chance to breathe (except in sleep with our masks on thankfully) as we've been so busy.
We've worked day and night to rise to the challenge to help with the devastation we've all seen on the tv about the COVID-19 crisis in India. It's so much worse there than it's been here in the UK as children and pregnant ladies are seriously ill and dying, which wasn't common happening here.
Our charity were in the position, thanks to Creo Medical who donated to us oxygen concentrators and non-invasive ventilators which they had bought to help with the UK's pandemic. They and us were able to help UK hospitals in need, but the surplus equipment we had left has now been donated to India and has now reached the rural hospitals who needed it the most - all £130K of life-saving equipment! This couldn't have been achieved without a wonderful non-profit of UK doctors called BAPIO, who arranged the free flight and logistics to ensure it went to the right hospitals. Not only are these UK doctors doing wonderful work at raising money for India, but they're also doing ward rounds via Whatsapp to help the doctors and nurses out there.
Although this was exhausting it has been both a humbling and emotional experience from us all and what truly teamwork at its best!
Safe Arrival at Hospitals in India
You can read more about this in the Hull Daily Mail https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/news/health/hull-charity-lends-help...
It was also featured on NDTV and was good to see the doctors from BAPIO unloading for the flight at Heathrow. Definitely great teamwork by all!
