Sleep Apnoea Forum Bringing Help + Support to the Patient

Hello,

Thanks for adding me...my husband has chronic sleep apnea and has just received papers for jury service. Does anyone know if he can be exempt from this?

Hi Susan and welcome :)

Regarding your question about jury service, I don't know much about the exemptions as I've never been called up and hope I aren't! However, if your husband is on good CPAP therapy and approved by the DVLA to drive (if he's a driver) then I can't imagine it would be classed as an exemption. However, if he isn't on treatment yet, it may be something that can be looked at if he's suffering extreme daytime fatigue.

Thanks Kath, he has been on cpap for a few years now and has regular check ups but is still extremely tired when he relaxes, he is also self employed which is another stumbling point. They are a pain these jury service, will need to look into it. Thanks again. Sue

Sorry to hear that Susan.  If he's still so tired it would be worth asking for help with the clinic in case his pressures need adjusting (assuming he uses his CPAP for all sleeps of course, as that would cause tiredness).  If his therapy is ok then it could be something else causing the symptoms so a good idea to get the GP to run blood tests.

"If you are hooking up to the mains it is not a problem if you are in the camper van. I used to use CPAP in a caravan hooked up to the mains all the time. However, if you are in a tent, that is a whole new ballgame."

"Have you remembered to turn up your humidifier now the season has changed? Another thing to try is Breathe Right Strips and perhaps a natural nasal spray like Sterimar."

Best CPAP MACHINE FOR CAMPING?

HiI'm new to the forum.  I would like a compact machine for use in a camper van.  Does anyone have experience of this using electric hook up?  I would welcome your comments.  See More
