I have not posted on here for a while, but I really need to let off steam!!! I had a respiratory appointment today. I have been on a Philips bi pap machine for a few years but I don't seem to be getting any better. Ahi's averaging 16. It was a new nurse today. Every other appointment I have had with the other nurses, they have told me that the machine would supply what I needed automatically. Well surprise surprise it does actually have to be set up. I have literally been having to low a setting for years. So I have been getting upset and stressed because I thought I was doing something wrong when I had not, for years. It has now been set up for me so I have to go back in 2 months to see how I am doing. Why didn't they see off my readings that something was very wrong. Sorry for the rant but I needed to let off steam. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK.

Your rant is perfectly understandable Carolyn, because if you search this forum I'm sure you will find posts from yourself going back several years when you told us your AHI was high! Thank goodness you saw the new nurse today, but it's very sad this wasn't flagged up a lot earlier!
Good luck with the new pressures and keep us posted - hope you start to feel better soon.
Thank you for replying, Kath.I an really terrified at starting allover again with proper pressures. I have type 1 diabetes also and if I get stressed this plays up. I really feel I'm in a no win situation. Thank you for your support. I will message you again tomorrow to tell you how my 1st night went. I must admit I am very nervous.
Hope things are going better now Carolyn. I know it's hard for you, but try not to be stressed with what's happened in the past and you honestly have nothing to be afraid of having better pressures. If this is the problem things can only get better :)
Not had much dealings with Bi-PAP machines. Even APAP machines are better to be set up with min' and sometimes max' pressures for best performance. Hope this works out better for you. Can't understand why they have not looked into it before? An AHI of 16 is way to high when on treatment.
