Sleep Apnoea Forum Bringing Help + Support to the Patient

Emil Is snoring through his mask, has done last couple of nights his pressure Is 12 but his home ventilation nurse says kids can get used to the pressure very quickly 12 tho surely someone as small as him doesn't want it any higher? His SATs are acceptable he's between 90 and 93 which he's allowed to be, it is waking him up but cos his SATs are ok do I leave it or do I ask for pressure adjustment?

Rachel, is there a reason for Emil's snoring like a blocked nose?  If so, then try to treat this.

Do you know Emil's PAP stats? I take it he's on CPAP as you quote only one pressure. What is his AHI? To increase his pressure beyond the optimum will give worse CPAP results - increased AHI.

Do you know his VSI - Vibratory Snore Index? If the mask is too tight/so tight it will push his jaw back into his airway/throat and this is a favourite way of causing snoring. Ditto chin straps.

Clear nasal passgaes first to check - is he breathing through his mouth or nose straight after you remove his mask?

There has been only one change and that is that he has been introduced  bk on to oral food, just on Tuesday he is only having 5 tea spoons full a  day though! He has a problem with nasal regurgitation which is why  he ended up with the nasogastric tube due to the possibility of food  staying in his nose and the pressure of cpap forcing it onto his lungs.  Poor little boy loved to eat so much bless him
As far as his stats are his AI is 0 most of the time, rarely it has been up to 5 an hour. His HI is anywhere between 0 and 40 the SI it says 0 even if he's had a bad night!
He has improved so much and I'm so grateful, to see his SATS above 50% when he is sleeping is amazing and I don't know if I'm asking too much but it is something new, last time he snores thru his mask he needed a pressure increase, unless it is to do with his oral feed recomencement.

I was curious whether anyone has used the CPAP Total Face Masks and could pass on their observations? I've been using an Airfit F20 for years which is fine apart from the permanent red mark on the bridge of my nose, and have recently tried the…See More

Pressure waking me up. Belching and wind

HiI'm using the prisma smart max machine. Initially I was just on a nasal mask, this changed as I was sleeping with my mouth open. I then went to face and nose mask and complained of bad wind and belching. Sometimes the pressure in the night was…See More
