Hi
I am finding I am waking up suddenly with a mouthful of saliva (there is no a stomach acid taste at all and no signs of indigestion). I swallow and then go back to sleep. I use a CPAP and my apneoa are very low (nil at last hospital test). My own oximeter shows I am still having lots of breathing events.
I had a gastroscope and the consultant said there is no sign of gastro reflux, but the omeprazole I am on would heal it anyway. He did say that on CPAP pressure 9, the pressure is likely to force acids up from my stomach. It will be trial and error to see how the pressure effects me.
Any idea what the mouth ful of saliva is, as I suspect it is creating my breathing events. Or perhaps, my throat is closing and the saliva is building up behind it.

I don't have personal experience of this Philip, and it must be very annoying. If your AHI is coming up at 0, which is excellent and rare, then it might be worth speaking to your clinic to see if you can reduce your CPAP pressure slightly, as the swallowing of air could be causing this (aerophagia). Also, raising the bed at the head by 4-6 inches with books or something similar would be worth trying.
