Hi everyone, today I received my rental kit - prisma smart max, plus a Philips dreamwear mask which I’ve been wearing unconnected to try and get used to it. I just did a mask fit test using a medium mask and got a constant red/orange leak warning light. I’ve tried adjusting the straps and the mask but it made no difference. Using the sizing template provided I was only just / on the borderline for needing the medium size - could it be that my mask is too big? Although I’m so grateful to be able to hire this amazing equipment from hope2sleep while waiting for an nhs appointment it feels so hard doing this alone and remotely. I’m afraid to wear the mask as it is and don’t want to have problems that subconsciously push me towards not using the machine. Any thoughts or advice before hope2sleep open on Monday would be much appreciated

Hi
My first thought is "don't panic"! We're all a bit different, and there are many things that can be tweaked. I took to CPAP therapy like a duck to water, but I've had friends who say they can't cope, but then next time I speak to them, they're thriving on CPAP.
Next thought is that wearing the mask without the machine running may feel a bit restrictive, so don't let that put you off.
You don't say where you're trying the mask. If you're sitting rather than lying down, that may make it harder to get an airtight fit. And don't over-tighten the straps; sometimes looser is better.
Next, did you get the "fit pack" with the Dreamwear mask, with a selection of sizes? If so, try the smaller size. If you only got the medium, I'm sure Kath will be along on Monday to sort things out.
Finally, the Dreamwear is a great mask for me, and from what I hear, the Prisma is a great bit of equipment too.
Sorry I don't have any answers. It's early days, and it can be a bit daunting, but you'll be fine.
Jonathan.
