Hi Kath,  I don't know if you managed to find anyone to travel to London for interview on BiPap/BiLevel machines but, if not, although I can't get to London tomorrow, I will be at home in the afternoon and would be happy to participate via phone.  I've used a BiPap for three years - not always happily but at least by now I'm used to it.

On a completely different subject, I've just been reading comments about the allergy filters.   One was fitted to the humidifier of my machine when I first got it.  However when I asked for a replacement after about 12 months' use,  I was told to remove it because it affected the efficacy of the machine!!??    Since then, I've noticed that one nostril is frequently blocked and my nasal passages seem swollen - and I wonder just where the grey grime goes which previously accumulated on the filter!!!    Think I need to start using a filter again before the hayfever season starts in earnest.

Although I haven't contributed to the Forum yet, I have found many of the items  very useful and it is a comfort to know that help and advice  is readily available from friendly members.  Thank you for all your hard efforts.    Hope Puppy is settling down and giving you as much pleasure as we get from our shaggy dog.

Kind regards,

Liz Gadsby

Hi Liz and sorry for the late reply - been soooooo busy today, and what with this last minute urgent request......  I'll certainly mention your offer to them and will email if they can do it this way.  They ideally want 3 people, but it's pushing it with only just getting the message.

Glad you're getting help on the forum and whilst I'm always too busy for my own good, Daisy (puppy) is a welcome 'time-out' for me, even though she can be a handful just now.  Tonight was her first puppy class, so expecting good behaviour from now on

Regarding the bacterial filters, I'm not aware that they affect the efficacy of the machine, and I've certainly noticed no difference or had any reported to me, and I do regularly check my data.  Did they specifically say what they're supposed to affect?   I hardly think this is the case, bearing in mind people with lung conditions are expected to use them and they are made by Philips Respironics.  The filters are really supposed to be only used for 3 nights, but that's mainly for people with chronic lung conditions.  I tend to change them monthly, or when I see too much dirt building up.  I don't have any allergies, but when I trialled them I couldn't believe how much dirt they pick up which would otherwise have been entering my mask (like you point out).  If you haven't seen it, check out this other post where you can see some 'before and after' pictures - not just mine, but Snoreyhead's too....http://hope2sleepguide.co.uk/forum/topics/cpap-bacterial-filter-one...

CPAP Total Face Mask

I was curious whether anyone has used the CPAP Total Face Masks and could pass on their observations? I've been using an Airfit F20 for years which is fine apart from the permanent red mark on the bridge of my nose, and have recently tried the…See More

"Hi It sounds like you need to have more conversations with your sleep clinic.  There's little point in having a high pressure if it means you cannot tolerate the machine.  There's an interesting video here…"

Pressure waking me up. Belching and wind

HiI'm using the prisma smart max machine. Initially I was just on a nasal mask, this changed as I was sleeping with my mouth open. I then went to face and nose mask and complained of bad wind and belching. Sometimes the pressure in the night was…See More

1st time and I’ve failed the mask leak test

Hi everyone, today I received my rental kit - prisma smart max, plus a Philips dreamwear mask which I’ve been wearing unconnected to try and get used to it. I just did a mask fit test using a medium mask and got a constant red/orange leak warning…See More
