Sleep Apnoea Forum Bringing Help + Support to the Patient

Hi , just an update - still find it hard to believe that blowing air up my nose while sleeping can cure so many issues many of which I hadn't got a clue was caused by Sleep Apnea.

From Day one of my trial I found I was no longer waking up coughing or having a dry mouth or hot sweats and palpitations, no longer having acid reflux or cramps and not to mention gone had the snoring and having to get up to go to the loo 5 or 6 times a night! The excessive daytime tiredness has been banished to the past and from having borderline diabetes and liver damage along with raised blood pressure I have now got normal blood results and even got my cholerestorol down without having to use the dreaded statins!

I haven't missed one night on cpap since I started and average 7 1/2 hrs per night with AHI readings of 0 to 0.6. I haven't been back to the clinic yet but have a 12 month checkup due in May. I spent many hours on the sleep forums and consider myself very lucky in that I have taken to CPAP like a duck to water but do highly commend the support that forums like this one give!

I've also managed to loose 22kg in weight and aim to loose another 8 this year.

I was initially given a S9 Escape set at 11.2  based on the trial results produced by an S8 Autoset but bought my own S9 Autoset as I needed a second machine and a weeks results now indicates my 95% pressure would be 8.9 so envisage my clinic will recommending my cpap pressure being reduced.

Best Wishes to all.

Colin

it is all sounding very sweet for you

keep it up

Well done Colin, you want your high pressure on the Autoset to be 3 - 5 above your 95% pressure to allow for leaks etc. What is your AHI with the Autoset? If it is still between 0 -0.6 and feel feel Ok I would leave it.

Great to hear such positive results Colin after just 10 months of CPAP therapy, and it's amazing just how many things untreated sleep apnoea can cause.  Thanks for sharing to encourage others, and for you it's onwards and upwards

I was curious whether anyone has used the CPAP Total Face Masks and could pass on their observations? I've been using an Airfit F20 for years which is fine apart from the permanent red mark on the bridge of my nose, and have recently tried the…See More

Pressure waking me up. Belching and wind

HiI'm using the prisma smart max machine. Initially I was just on a nasal mask, this changed as I was sleeping with my mouth open. I then went to face and nose mask and complained of bad wind and belching. Sometimes the pressure in the night was…See More
