Hi all
I was reading a forum post that mentioned some free data software which allows you to read your SD Card from your CPAP machine. Im sorry if someone has already posted about this free software.
The software is called sleepyhead http://sourceforge.net/projects/sleepyhead/ it is still under development but might give you some Insight in what is happening with your treatment. It will also download data from your oximeters.

Ian are you looking for an individual file on your SD card? The sleepyhead software only needs to be pointed at the drive where the SD card is showing. which on my PC comes up as G drive.
Once you have done it once then afterwards you just click on " usual" location.
There are instructions available if you google for them, ( They are on another CPAP forum "sorry Kath for mentioning it!!!"

When checking properties on the computer it shows zero which is indicating that Respironics is not writing to the card. I did have this issue when I initially had the machine. I have contacted the sleep clinic for their advice and I think they will wish to see the machine again. At least the software has identified an issue. I will keep you posted.

Ian you havent got then write protect switch on thecard activated by accident have you? usually a little slider switch on the side.

I have now resolved the issue so many thanks for your suggestions. The problem was Acronis backup software that was stopping my card reader work. Now I have overcome that issue I am able to interrogate the memory card and obtain the results from the software. I must say it is amazing the information available, although I am unable to understand much of what is on there at this stage.

Good to hear Ian. Start by looking at the Daily Views and you'll see how your AHI etc matches up with the graphs.

Can anyone on the forum clarify this for me, please. Is it correct that Resmed data capable machines up to and including the S8s use a data card that needs to be read by a Resmed data reader, but the S9s use a different type of data card that can be read more easily? Would this be why Sleepyhead software can be used to read data from S9s but not S8s?

I don't think this is the case Lisa and the ResScan reads all the different models. I would guess the creator of SleepyHead has worked on the S9 because it's the latest model of today and the future, as I'm sure there is an incredible amount of work for him to do for each model of machine, especially as it's all free.

I don't think it will work on yours Vera, as it's designed for the newer System One's. It won't hurt to have a go though - I would guess the worst that could happen is that it will say it won't read your software. If it doesn't work, you would need the Respironics Encore Software which we sell, but it's £99.00.

You may be surprised to hear that here in the UK many sleep clinics never look at the software on our machines, and a lot of people are prescribed machines without software capability. Unless people go down the private route (most people don't need to) then we get our masks and machines given to us from the hospital. We are officially given one mask a year, but some clinics do give out more. If people want a spare mask or a different one they purchase them from us or the manufacturers direct, and over here we don't need a prescription to buy a mask or accessories - only for the CPAPs. At our annual check the clinics that do look at the software do this, and the ones that don't check the limited information available, such as hours of usage and pressure etc. All clinics will replace masks and parts if necessary earlier, and some are more generous than others with the amount they give out. The filters are changed too at this annual visit, even though they're really supposed to be changed well before this.

i think i'm extremely lucky, my Consultant works direct with Philips Respironics and they recall the card at intervals set by him. They send out a replacement card to swap over and a pre-paid envelope. Then they download the data and its readily available to the consultant either before I attend my next appt, or he'll bring it up on screen whilst i'm there… whats even better, having spoken to Philips, they have obtained his permission for them to send me all the data from the cards… i'm only on month 3, but its certainly making it all easier to understand.
They just emailed it to me. Its a shame that not all sleep clinics can arrange for this. I'm sure it would make more people comply if they could understand what is happening to them overnight!
Although I'm 100% complying I'm still struggling finding the best fitting mask for me… I'm on my 5th in 3 months! One I never used as it was too large, another was too small , one made my nose sore and the other too many leaks and the 5th I have only had for two days..so I'm trialling this out. i know I am very privileged to get this service as i am aware through Kath that not everyone has the same treatment. i know i couldn't afford to keep trying them if i had to pay.
I'm using a comfort Gel Blue at the moment. the head gear is a bit large fore me but we are rolling it up at the back as suggested a video we caught site of…. here's to a peaceful nights sleep!! I am hoping and wishing. I have also made my own chin strap as the little white one supplied by philips isn't suitable for my chin lol it falls off!! I am using a make up headband. its lovely soft white velour and fairly stretchy and it just about goes around my head to keep my mouth closed! I cant shut up during the day time so its hard to at night too!! lol I just hope this mask stays comfy! xx

Yes, I hear the scheme you're on Roz with the clinics that are using Philips Respironics scheme is working really well - the best of both worlds - an excellent consultant you have with Mr Oko and the team at Respironics backing you :)
Have you seen the new TrueBlue Mask that Respironics brought out a fortnight ago? The clinics probably haven't got them yet, but it's one to watch out for - I was really impressed when I tested it!
