Sleep Apnoea Forum Bringing Help + Support to the Patient

Emil is back in the children's hospital next week for a gastrostomy and fundoplucation, the admission is horrendous! We knew he wouldn't be admitted to our local hospital anymore as they
have no training and are not willing to for him. He was diagnosed had surgery and Titrated etc at the children's hospital. They do this in the critical care unit. Anyway he has to go bk to critical care as no other wards in the children's take kids using breathing support regardless of why. My worry is emil does still desaturate, albeit not to 50 anymore but he does sedat to low 80's and they couldn't get him off oxygen last time he was took off by the resp as she said he would be ok desatting to that as long as it was for less than 5 minutes and no mire than 5 in a 60 minute period the worry is while in critical care he will b under the care of critical care team and general surgery so they will ave a say it's sooo worrying thinking he's gunna b kept there fir a prolonged period and puck up bugs, emil has chronic lung disease too and picks everything up. Last time he picked up rsv and we were bk on the vent at 60 breaths per min and 100% 02. I'm just aving a moan here but does anyone else have trouble with wards in hospitals or is cos he's a child?

Rachel, you have every right to have a moan on here - no better place to :D  You do go through so much with your children.  I was reading about your daughter's recent hospital visit on Facebook.  Those kids are so lucky to have you with your endless patience and love for them.  Just so we all know, what exactly are those procedures Emil's having?
Niamh is havin a rough time bless her.
Emil is having a surgical feeding tube inserted straight into his stomach rather than the one that goes down his nose and back of throat. It's a more permanent one. The fundo is to stop him vomiting he won't be able to vomit once he's had this done.

Aw, poor Emil.  Hope it goes well + keep us posted.  Hope Niamh recovers soon as well.
