Nocturnal panic attacks
Hi - I fairly regularly waken several times per night with panic attacks - 'lurching' in stomach, fast heartbeat and sweating. I use my CPAP machine every night and occasionally, but not always, these attacks coincide with my husband telling me that my machine was particularly noisy or that my mask wasn't sealed properly. Anyone else have these symptoms? Any advice / suggestions?

That's a shame Mags :( Can you not see any information on the CPAP LCD screen either?

Sound like you're right :( When you get back I would ask for a titration study done if you can't get help out there. You certainly need some good help Mags.

Please forgive me for being blunt. Im not saying that your Cpap is not part of it as I am sure it is. Are you taking anything for your anxiety?

No problem being blunt! And you make a really good point - sometimes we just like to have a tidy hook to put things on......was about to post about this again anyway. The good news is that since my asthma, which was exacerbated by a bad cold, has been brought back under control, the anxiety attacks have all but diappeared. Having discussed things with the medics, the general concensus is that they are probably being caused by low oxygen levels brought on by the various factors......When I get back to the UK I will discuss further with my own doctor and may consider having oxygen available when asthma is troublesome. Thanks to all who have chipped in with ideas and suggestions :-)

Anxiety is the biggest hurdle a sleep tech faces. It's also the one thing they don't teach us about in training. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
