Sleep Apnoea and TMJD
I would be interested to hear if anyone on here has TMJD (Termporal Mandibullar Joint Disorder), and whether they feel that it is connected with their Sleep Apnoea or excacerbated by wearing a mask.
There is mention of TMJD within Sleep Interrupted, this is scant and doesn't really help much but it does suggest there may be a link.

I have been to the hospital today for a second opinion following my complaint about my first visit. I saw the top man who was extremely courteous and very apologetic. He went through my previous appointment and then took me through what had been happening to me this year and where I was now. After all of this he gave me a thorough examination, the first proper examination I have had.
Following his examination the first thing he said was the I SHOULD NOT stop using my CPAP machine because it is in established fact that this is the Gold Standard treatment for sleep apnoea, that made me feel a whole lot better about what was to come.
He has confirmed the diagnosis and given me advice on pain management etc., all of which I already knew thanks to you guys. He has suggested a splint for bedtime and is seeing me again in two months, if things are no better then he is looking at low level medication (which I prefer not to have) and if that does no good then he mentioned the possibility of a flush but that is a long way down the road. More importantly he has told me that if my symptoms worsen again I can ring the department for an appointment, I don't have to go back through my GP or dentist.
Finally I feel as though someone is listening - the pain is just the same but I feel now as though I have someone in my corner

This is BRILLIANT news Diane, and so glad you persisted. Let's hope the other doc has been reprimanded and this should stop a similar type of experience for someone else. Imagine if you'd listened to him
Hope you'll soon be on the road to less pain.
