Sleep Weaver Problems
After almost a week of wonderful sleep on the Sleep Weaver mask, last night was not a good one for me. I kept adjusting the mask because of small leaks, but never could get it just right. I've heard that you don't have to wear the Sleep Weaver as tight as other masks, but when I don't it makes a big difference. I wish I could get a better seal without having to tighten the velcro straps, which are sometimes uncomfortable all by themselves. I still love the mask, I guess I just need to get the straps the right tightness.

Let's hope it was just a one-off back night for you Patricia. I only have limited experience of this mask when I trialled it with a chinstrap as well, as I use a full face mask and they still haven't brought out a full face version for this one. I was impressed with it, but I think it's important to clean our masks everyday, so if I used it I'd want two, as I'd never remember to wash and dry it in time for the next night
I've heard similar stories to this, that at first it's great, but then the dreaded leaks start. However, there are lots of people who absolutely love the mask.
Try to tighten it just enough to prevent leaks, as overtightening could actually cause them - easier said than done I know! Good luck tonight....

I've been using the Sleep Weaver masks for just over a year now and love them because they are so light. Are you using the original style or the newer Elan that doesn't have the elastic coming down to the top of the nose piece? I'm using the older style as my clinic doesn't yet have the Elan so can't give you any feedback on it. I do get some leakage but lifting the nose piece and resetting it usually works. I also have the hose coming down rather than hooked up - which for most other masks would be the more comfortable way.
I saw from your page that you are using a Resmed machine- is it a CPAP set at a fixed pressure or is it an APAP? I used to have a fixed pressure machine, but had lots of problems with mask leaks. Changing over to an APAP that adjusts pressure as I need it works much better for me. I have far fewer leaks.
Hope you manage to get the leaks sorted ok.

Hi i have used both the elan and the advance and have had to put up with slight leaks throughout. Strip and clean the mask by hand in the morning wi hand soap and it will become more supple and flexible to the point of being completely floppy after a few days, then only clean it when you need to as it will wear and become leaky. I am a fan of them but have found that although the advance lasts about 6 months the elan seems to be about 3 to 4 months before it needs replacement, for me thats not too bad as i can use the medium or large and both come with the elan. I am going back to a silicon mask for a while to see what that is like with the latest soft light ones...

I shall be interested to now how you get on going back to the silicon masks. Last time I tried going back to them I lasted less than 4 hours before changing back to the Sleep Weaver!
Did you find any difference in comfort levels between the Advance and Elan?

Hi Lisa. Yes, I found the advance more comfortable, but the elan more stable. The Advance is definitely more durable as well, though the two I had were completely different in terms of fit and finish...
One night with the Eson and so far so good.

Hi, Lisa! I'm using the original style that has the elastic down to the top of the nose piece. I find that part to be very slightly irritating, but I know I'll get used to it the more I use it. I'm still new at this, so I'm not sure about the difference between CPAP and APAP, so I'm not quite sure how to answer you on that one. There is a dial that can be changed for the air pressure, but I always keep it on the same setting because my doctor said that was what I needed. There's so much to learn! Thanks for your response!
