SPASMS
I am slightly worried at the moment. I am unable to use CPAP and last night I woke up and I was having a breathing spasm - like what children have when they have croup. I worried cos i could not breathe and it all happened so quickly. Luckily it just went as quick as it came but I was getting to the stage I know that I was going to collapse. Is this to do with sleep apnoea ??? It has before woke me up, but before it has just been like I've felt like i cant breathe, but without the spasms.

The spasm might be caused by acid reflux (GORD/GERD) which can also be linked to sleep apnea. The acid reflux back into the oesophagus stimulates the vagus nerve which causes the spasm. I have GERD and sleep apnea but the only major symptom I felt at first was the shortness of breath/ breathing spasm. Do get a check up with your GP if you are worried.

i cant use my machine cos the sleep specalist asked for it back because i had been really struggling with it and i was awake every hour or so with it on. I kept trying with it for about 20 weeks using it every day even though i was struggling to work etc and 3 weeks before i went to see specialist. I'd had enough and i just hoped the specialist would help so i stopped using machine. To cut a long story short the specialist was not helpful. Even though my ahi was 37 he said i had to return the cpap machine as there's nothing he could do etc etc. I was gutted so i took the machine back !!and have asked for a second opion . yes Rock i am sure it conected - I do not think it is a panic attack.
