Hi Guys,
I am new to this having recently ( mid November ) been diagnosed with sleep apnea. I have had to surrender my licence to DVLA until my sleep apnea is under control. I still have not had an appointment for the hospital to get my cpap, so my question is.. how long usually is the waiting time for an appointment?

Hi Stephen, and welcome to the forum. There's lots of reading for you to do on here whilst you're waiting for your CPAP, and when you do get it, most problems can be overcome with support and sometimes a few comfort products. The important thing is if you can get to comply with CPAP quickly, you should soon get your licence back. I never actually surrendered mine - I just stopped driving and then informed the DVLA once I was on successful treatment.
As to the length of waiting time, it depends on which clinic/hospital you're with, but it would be worth giving them a ring. Once diagnosed a lot of clinics are moving fairly quickly these days. Let's hope you can get yours soon and look forward to a healthier 2013 with lots more energy!
Thanks Kath, i am sure i will have many questions over the coming days, weeks, months
You certainly will Stephen (wish my forum existed when I first got diagnosed ). Most of the comfort products we sell weren't available in the UK back then (did you see the main website by the way? www.hope2sleep.co.uk). When you know you're getting your CPAP, the main product I'd recommend is the hose lift, and just wish the NHS provided us all with that too. Also, if you ever suffer from any nasal stuffiness or dryness, I would tell them you'll need a humidifier, as most clinics don't give them out unless they're asked for yet I believe there are always times when people need them, even if not all the time.
Feel free to fire away any questions.
Welcome Stephen, I met Stephen on DS and suggest he join as Kath would have more local knowledge.
