Travelling with CPAP

Hi everyone Does anyone know of a rucksack/backpack suitable for travelling with a CPAP machine. I do a fair amount of travelling and currently use the standard travel bag that came with my Resmed Air Sense 10. Ideally I'd like a backpack to give me the freedom to use both arms and not get a painful shoulder if I'm carrying it crossbody.  I know I could just buy a decent one, but it would be nice to have the proper compartments. Many thanks MaxineSee More

"Thanks so much for the advice. I now have my new one and will try the water/vinegar regime. Yes, we do live in a very hard water area which doesn't help so I'll give the distilled water a go too. Many thanks "

"Hi Maxine That advice is correct, except you really want to be giving a deeper clean once a week with a more natural disinfecting regime.  The manufacturers recommend doing this with 1 part of white vinegar to 5 parts water and leaving to…"

Using humidifier

All the tips I've read regarding cleaning the humidifier state regularly washing with a gentle soap and water and only using distilled water. I've been using boiled, cooled water and assumed this was OK. My humidifier has gone white and crazed and the seal is going mouldy. Fortunately my sleep clinic is happy to provide a replacement but I'd like to know if anyone can offer advice on how to prevent it happening again. Many thanks. See More

Hi Maxine - I also suffered similar problems,  and early on started to use a hair net. Not the sexiest of looks but it helps! You can buy sleep hair nets from High St chemists.. I also have a silk hair cap and a light jersey cap which I got off the Internet. I also swear by a pure silk pillowcase which is not only cool on the head,  but also helps with moving around in the night as there is less friction. Hope this helps a little and good luck - am sure you will start to feel the benefits of using the CPAP very soon once the little irritations are sorted.
