Hi Stu
Welcome to the forum, I'm sure you will find it very helpful. I'm new to treatment too, although I've suspected I had sleep apnoea for some years I am only recently been diagnosed. I was given a machine on trial for a week and half way through that first week I had lots of strange symptoms, including panic attacks, a numb top lip and palpitations. My problem was that I was trying to match my breathing to the machine instead of letting the machine match mine. This caused me to hyperventilate and the palpitations followed. Easier said than done I know but try to relax, you might not even realise you are being anxious. It's strange having to go to sleep with a mask on plus all the trimmings at first but I was lucky and adapted quickly to treatment once I picked up my own machine. Now, I don't know what I'd do without it... good luck and I promise you it will get better soon. Joanne
