CPAP in a caravan
Does anybody have experience of using their CPAP in a touring caravan.
We use the front side beds so the machine would have to go on the centre cabinet thus making it higher than my head would be.
Plus I use a hose lift at home which wouldnt fit due to the slope of the van front. How can I avoid water in my face or noises from water in the pipe.?

I don't have any experience of using CPAP in a caravan (although I bet the neighbours on the camp site wish I had in the days of my snoring when we used to have a caravan). I remember how embarrassed I was as a child when I went to the toilet in the middle of the night and could hear my own Mum snoring - can't believe we didn't get any complaints!!
I had one man buy the CPAP Hose Cover, and when I commented I hoped it would help his rainout, he told me he'd bought it for when he's in his caravan, to stop the hose banging against the side of the caravan and making a noise LOL.
Anyway, regarding your problem of the hose - this would be a problem to me, as I would hate not to use my Hose Lift. Is there anywhere you could fix one of the Hose Clips or there are a pack of 2 of the Respironics Management Clips which are the same thing? The clips on them are very strong, so could be attached to something higher up (like blinds or curtains). Just an idea.....

hi all,i have a motorhome and use cpap all the time.i use mine on the side cabinet which is level with my head and i use a hose cover and dont get any problem with rainout,but i dont use the humidifier in summer [is it summer now ???].hope this helps,also dont use your machine on 12volt as i blew up not one but two machines,[bad books with nhs ] you are suppost to buy a converter at £50 but i didnt and just wired it 12v.so now i use a 12v inverter to convert to 240v so i dont blow anymore cpaps.all the best,muz

Got a hose clip coming as suggested by Kath, will post feed back when Ive tried it. All I need is some sun and no rain in Bridlington this weekend now.

Hi there,
I use my m/c in the caravan and it sits on a shelf some 2ft above my head, I screwed a cup hook into the bottom of the overhead cupboard and hang the pipe from it using one of my wifes hair elastics. The fact that I don't use a humidifier probably makes a big difference here I suppose.
I have never tried my m/c on anything other than mains electric as we always use a hook up, but Respironics do sell a 12volt lead for their m/c's which use a seperate power supply transformer, the Resmed m/c I used previously, had a built in transformer.
I also have had problems with the pipe banging on the caravan walls, but my recently purchased pipe cover should solve that. Will report back on this next week, as away this weekend at lovely sunny Windermere!!!

had a good weekend only a bit of drizzle on Saturday in Bridlington although I understand it rained all day in Scarborough!!!. Sunny & warm up on Bempton cliffs this morning. Used hose clip clipped onto curtains and it worked a treat. Oh & Kath it arrived in time , many thanks.

That's good to hear Derek, and we now know that both the hose covers and hose clips are both good for caravanners. Perhaps I should put an advert in the camping magazines :-D

Just back from another 3 lovely quiet nights in the caravan, due to the hose cover, although got to say I couldn't hear the m/c over the rain hammering on the van roof :-)
