Sleep Apnoea Forum Bringing Help + Support to the Patient

Hi All

I am looking for some advice about my Humidifier, for the last week I have had it set on 4 or 5, but it seems to be making no difference.

The water level go down by about 25% all night (7hrs) whichever setting I have it on .

Could some one advise me about Humidifiers

Many thanks

Edward

Hi All

Sorry I havent been back since positing the first thread, Regarding the scale issue, I live in a very hardwater area and was treated to a distiller for a present so I am able to distill fresh water each few days. could I ask the 100 dollar question is distilled better than de-ironised.

Thanks everyone,

What a great present Edward, and seeing as nobody's bought me one yet, looks like I'll have to buy my own :(  I would definitely go with distilled water rather than deionised, especially after reading this:-

"I used to work in a factory that made deionised water. Whilst doing so I had to wear rubber wellies, a full length rubber apron, rubber gauntlets and a full face gas mask. (very alluring I looked too, not!)

It is tap water that has hydrochloric acid and caustic soda passed through it. Lethal fumes each but if the two mix....
it is for car batteries, please please no one ever use it in their humidifiers."

This is a quote I copied and pasted years ago from somewhere on the net, and some of it is missing, but you get the gist, and my GP also told me not to as well.

Thanks everyone,

scale is caused by heating up  of the waterl

the hotter is more likely to cause scale because of the minerals in the water

no heat no scale

that is why distilled water is used, to remove the mineral content

you can also swish around milton after use and reload whith distilled water with no rinsing inbeetween

hi i run my humidifier empty that is no water ever

why because it make my pap quieter

How to Oxygenate Water

If you don't have a bubbling fountain, you can easily cause oxygen to dissolve in water by stirring it in a blender, or by shaking it fill a container about half full of water, put on a tight lid, and shake the container. This will properly saturate the water with oxygen to the right concentration.

One of the basic principles of homeopathy is that small quantities of medicines should be succussed; that is, medicines should be diluted and shaken. Homeopathic physicians observed, over the years, that this diluted and shaken medicine works better and they say this 'vitalizes' the drugs. I believe that the importance of shaking is to add beneficial oxygen to the mixture, as well as stirring up the contents.

I truly believe that before you drink water, you should shake it. If you do as I have described, your digestion as well as your general health will improve and you will be more resistant to diseases. You must not expect immediate results, but over the years it will benefit you. Many of the chemical processes which take place in the stomach and small intestine run more efficiently if there is enough oxygen present. Therefore, drinking living water also helps digestion.
