SLEEP BOT APP

I've come across 2 useful free Apps lately.  This first one is called Sleep Bot and is a great one for calculating sleep debt building up, which most of us (me included) are guilty of from time to time.  It also records snoring (you'll even hear mask leaks + raise in pressure from APAP machines - possibly apnoea pauses in the untreated).  Another very beneficial feature is that you can set the alarm to wake you up at the most suitable nearest time you need to get up, as the App senses when you're in a lighter stage of sleep.  So often people are rudely awoken by their alarm clock which has no idea if they were deep in REM sleep or in a light stage of sleep.  I've only been using this App for 4 nights as I type this, but am very impressed so far, and in just the 4 nights have already managed to build up 2.8 hours of sleep debt, oops!!

Here's the link to the App http://mysleepbot.com/

SLEEP DISORDERS CENTRE APP

The 2nd brand new App is from The Snore Centre Sleep Clinic run by Michael Oko.  For existing Sleep Apnoea sufferers it gives useful to up-to-date news and information, links to his website and social media sites, but is also very valuable to share with people you suspect may be sufferers, who can take the Stop-Bang Sleep Test, which many sleep clinicians are finding is often more accurate than the Epworth Sleepiness Scale.  There are also links to Michael Oko's video presentations, and I'd particularly encourage you to check out the ones in 2 parts about 'How Does the Nose Affect Sleep Apnoea?'

thanks for the app i will try it.big thanks.muz

It's very interesting Martin is the Sleep Bot one when listening to the sound. When I saw the sound go high I had a listen and it was my APAP machine pressure rising.  Before CPAP it would have been snoring I was hearing :)  An interesting app and especially for people who haven't got software-capable CPAP machines.  I'm using it more to easily spot sleep debt - especially since my health scare.

well.i have used the app for two nights now and didnt realize how bad i was sleeping, two night and i am 6.52 hours in debt and the graph is full of spikes in both movement and noise.going to keep checking and see if it alters or perhaps a visit to sleep clinic.muz

I've been shocked too Martin.  Here's a screen shot of my sleep debt over 8 days:-

I'm very glad I found this App, as my mission since my TIA is to get enough hours of sleep, and so far it's a big FAIL Definitely taking big steps to change this.

Have you listened to the sound Martin to see if you can hear any snoring?  I don't hear any, but on the noise peaks I can hear the APAP pressure rising - extra confirmation the machine is doing it's job properly although I know this from the software results and my low AHI now.

hi kath,i cant hear any noise apart from my wife coffing once,i think i can here my mask leaking on one but not on all the peaks.how clever these new phones are.muz

Yep, they certainly are clever.  I've heard a couple of conversations I've had with my hubby in the wee hours, which I'd have forgotten about had it not been for listening in later in the day

hi kath,do you think 6.52 hours is excessive? (in two nights) thanks.muz

Check the settings Muz and see what you've got ticked for your Optimal Hours as that's the amount of sleep you need to tell it is good for you\?  I have 8.5 hours ticked, as I know for a fact that my body appreciates 9 hours really.  I've read several articles indicating that someone with sleep apnoea should aim for between 8-9 hours.  It depends what you've got ticked as to what it calls debt.

1st time and I’ve failed the mask leak test
