Hi
I have been on CPAP therapy from April this year,I was diagnosed with having severe sleep apnea with 80 events per hour.
I am feeling much better, but I guess I am now realising that for such a long while (years maybe) I've been living in a kind of fog/haze, I feel as if I've kind of woke up !!!
Is this common for CPAP users? I am now aware of how switched off I was...

That's a great testimonial to your CPAP therapy Helen and 'brain fog' is actually a very common symptom of untreated sleep apnoea. If you google it like I just did there are loads of articles on this and the one I'm linking to actually mentions 'brain fog' and 'haze' http://sleepdisorders.about.com/od/doihaveasleepdisorder/fl/10-Surp...
There have also been studies stating CPAP reverses damage to the white matter of the brain http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/806838 and also the grey matter http://www.aasmnet.org/articles.aspx?id=1709
Isn't hindsight amazing? It's sad that many other people are living life like this, unaware they have sleep apnoea and, whilst CPAP can be an inconvenience, it's definitely still the gold standard treatment which doesn't involve us having to take any medication!
As Kate says, it is very common and you just don't realise how tired you really are.
