Sleep Apnoea Forum Bringing Help + Support to the Patient

My ResMed machine suddenly started to make a funny noise on Sunday night and a warning appeared saying High leak, I rung Papworth and was told to bring it to them (i am one hour drive away) which wouldnt have normally been a problem but im not well at the moment so will have to not use it until im well enough to take it there. Has anyone else had this problem with their machine ? and how do people cope not using their machines, ive found it really hard to sleep without it as ive been using it for 4 years and feel lost. Thanks for letting me rant. Sandra

Hi, They changed my machine but didnt say what was wrong with it. I asked them to replace my mask but they wouldnt give me a new mask as ive not had it a year  and in their words "they are expensive you know" (even though its leaking) so ill be looking on yr shop site again. Thanks for your help Kath x

It sounds like there was a problem then.  I'll attach a link from this discussion for Flatliner as he should then get a notification, in case they're the same problem.  Yes, we know the masks are expensive, and for years I had to buy my own FitLife due to my previous hospital being unable to supply it, even though it was the best mask for me, grrr!  Anyway, if you need to buy a mask you haven't tried before, send me an email or ring me for advice BEFORE purchase so I can help you Sandra x

Hi, ill either call or email you in a few days as there is one im interested in. Im up your way in a few weeks so maybe i can have a look and try on. thanks sandra

You're very welcome to come for a fitting Sandra, but just be sure to contact me first so we can arrange a mutually convenient time we're both available.

Mine did a couple of weeks ago and i am with papworth as well on the resmed machine.  the resmed is a bit noisy anyway so i use earplugs.

Which series of CPAP are you on David, ie S8, S9 or the newer AirSense 10?

Hi Kath I am on an S9 machine. My issue was over 2 nights in May.  The bit that stops CO2 going back into the system was vibrating (the flap i am talking about). But i believe that the machine was causing it to do that due to the noise it was making.  I just turned it off and back on again and it stopped.  Next night about the same time same issue.  Possibly 3 pm.  I turned it off an on again.  If it did it a third then yes I was going to ring Papworth but it hasnt happened since. But i dont think it is the quietest machine on the planet.  Other half has to go down stairs sometimes.  Its not mega loud.  More loud when the dehumidifier is on.  Now i did make a change to the machine by turning off the ramp function as I mentioned on FB which i was advised to do anyway when testing out the mask to make sure it fits etc.....  I know we have had a few powerblips recently due to the storms so i dont know if it was when it turned back on that caused the issue.    David
