Sleep Apnoea Forum Bringing Help + Support to the Patient
Positive Effects Since Treatment for Sleep Apnoea (CPAP or other)
Thought it would be good (especially for newbies or people who suspect they may have our 'condition') to start a new discussion on the POSITIVE differences to our lives since being diagnosed with, and treated for, Sleep Apnoea. It's also good for us to read other people's experiences, and we can always re-visit this discussion on the forum if we start to struggle in the future, as no matter how many trials we come across, being treated is always the sensible option we must take to prolong our lives and feel better day by day.

Lol Adam....Hoseheads...I like it! Think a lot of doctors just don't have the time or experience to spot the clues. When I told the doctor here in Germany that I couldn't stay awake and wanted to go back to sleep as soon as I got up, plus all the other symptoms, he realised straight away what the problem could be. The sleep clinic here was so thorough, a 3 day stay, and then the actual manufacturer came to deliver my machine and explain it all. Medical insurance is expensive here but the waiting lists and the treatment seem far better in comparison to my past experiences in UK.

I have to say that when I told my doctor (now left the practice) about my "zoning" out, he immediately referred me to the sleep clinic in Pontefract, Wish i'd been diagnosed earlier then I pepole wouldn't have had to put up with a "sawmill" in the same room as them, yes i was THAT loud.

I will say one thing about Sleep Apnoea, it can kill in the long run and if you suspect you have it get to your doctor.
I could only drive a maximum of 30 miles before I got onto the treatment. Shortly after that I drove to Lands End from John o' Groats with only a couple of short stops for coffee. That is what CPAP/APAP treatment can do. It is your life back in a in a little box with a fan. I went from a Zombie to a Superman in a week. Well, maybe not quite, but it does feel like that when you first feel the benefits of CPAP. For some it may be a long road to get one and a long struggle to get to grips with it, but trust me, in the end it is well worth it.
