CPAP Hose Lift
The Hose Lift has been talked about on here, and I know a lot of you have this wonderful invention (myself included, and it goes with me wherever I sleep).
For those who haven't a clue what I'm talking about, it's a device people put at their bed-head or on the bedside cabinet to elevate the CPAP hose, thus helping with 'rainout' (water collecting in the hose), keeps the hose out of our way and also helps the mask seal better as it's not being constantly tugged on.
Anyway, one of the Hope2Sleep customers has kindly given me permission to share some 'photo's of her newly-painted hose lift. Seeing as they only come in blue, this is a great idea to blend it in with our bedrooms. You'll see they've also permanently secured it on the bed-head with a bracket too. I've also posted a picture of the original hose lift before the paint job. No way would I dare post you pictures of my multi-coloured bedroom (blue hose lift, pink and purple walls, grey hose cover, pink strap covers etc..... LOL). Oh and by the way, she bought the pink hose cover/huggie from Hope2Sleep too.

When my husband finally moves back into our bedroom once our boys are sorted that will be the first thing he will get to avoid me getting strangled on his hose :)

Carol, it's supposed to stop 'him' getting strangled, not you LOL. Seriously though, this is the best invention ever and should be no 3 on the 'must list' (after the CPAP + mask). I'll never forget the holiday I had in Spain where I kept tying the hose to the wardrobe door in the room with my dressing gown belt, and every day the maids kept untying it, so I had to re-do it every night :-D Was I pleased to come across the hose lift, and it goes with me wherever I go now :D

Just an update on the hose lift..... sales soared since I posted this discussion, which wasn't my intention, but glad more people were helped with it. The feedback people gave me was phenomenal and most said things like they wonder how they survived on CPAP without it! The hook comes in handy too, as after cleaning the mask with the Cleaning Wipes then the mask can be hung on it to dry ready for the next night.

I cannot speak more highly of this simple gadget.
I don't have problems getting caught up in the tubing, but using mine put an end to 18 years (no, that's not a typo) of leaks and soreness.
I always take my hose-lift when I go into hospital for my regular sleep studies, and it excites both the patients and the staff.
Sadly, my hospital unit cannot buy a supply for their patients' use. The NHS doesn't provide enough cash for that.

good idea but i just hook mine over the headboard. ok if you have a high headboard.

If it works for you, and the hose can move freely, that's great .
But some people try not-so-safe ideas, like hanging the hose from a nail in the wall, from a plant-pot holder, or from a picture over the bed.
I've even seen photos of a hose hanging from a light fitting!
These methods may not give the hose free movement from side to side when the sleeper changes position in bed.
So the hose could get tugged, lifting the mask off the face, causing air leaks.
It might get disconnected from the mask or machine, or could pull the plant-pot holder / picture off the wall.
On top of that, the hose could get caught round the sleeper's neck.

Before I came across the Hose Lift I had an annoying experience in Spain.......there was no headboard or nail in the wall etc to hang my hose + it was imperative I had it elevated as I had to raise the humidification + didn't want soaking in the night! I had to use my dressing gown belt to tie the hose to the wardrobe door. It was hard to get it just at the right angle, and everyday the maids kept untying it and I had to start again every night :( I have a spare Hose Lift permanently packed in my suitcase now. They're fantastic for travel as they're so light and even come with their own travel bag :) Such a simple little gadget, but in my opinion, an absolute MUST!!

I have seen it suggested that, if there is no convenient headboard or picture in your hotel room from which to dangle your hose, you should KNOCK A NAIL into the wall!
Somehow I don't think hotel owners would appreciate that.
