Does anyone use a AVP machine? Has it helped at all?

Did you mean an 'ASV' machine Carolyn for Central and Mixed Sleep Apnoea? If so, I have customers on them, and they've got on much better when they were switched from CPAP.
Some education , please, Kath. Is an ASV machine a separate type of machine in a category of its own,or does the Resmed S9 Auto and Respironics One (the latest, I can't remember) have a mode built in that is ASV? I got tied in knots trying to research this.
I remember you saying your Respironics One told you you had centrals.
Hi TF. As far as I'm aware the ASV's are categorised under Bi-Paps, but the difference is that they actually 'treat' centrals, whereas my Respironics System One APAP 'reports' them. As you'll know, raising pressure is not often helpful with centrals, and in fact can cause them.
There's a pretty good article here http://www.lakesidepress.com/CPAP/ASV.htm on both the Respironics + Resmed models. These machines are very expensive, so the NHS are relucant and/or unable to supply them.
Just remembered another link I had too, which was pretty informative http://thesleepsite.com/content/view/49/57/
