Sleep Apnoea Forum Bringing Help + Support to the Patient

Just at a hospital doing my 12 monthly sleep study to check how everything is going. A couple more hours before I go to sleep. Looking forward to a good nights sleep tonight then getting my results in a couple of weeks, Terry

Well, it's been 8 hours since you posted this Terry, so hope you got a good sleep and look forward to hearing how it went when you get the results.

Thanks Kath, I'm out now and back at work, I've had my manscape (patches on my legs and chest) not the greatest of nights with the 21 electrodes and the techs upping and lowering my pressure. The machine they use is much noiser than mine and used one of their masks which was way tighter. I did sleep a bit and they said I was on my back a fair bit which gave them some good results, get my results from my sleep specialist on the 29th Aug. They said I may need to raise my pressure slightly.

Just and FYI, went for my sleep study results, it was a beautiful, wonderful Melbourne day and my results were even better than the weather. As SA, I still have Restless Leg and Periodic Limb Movements but it has improved. It was as I thought he suggested raising my upper pressure from 12 to 14 and he was going to leave my lower pressure at 4 but when I pointed out my sleepyhead results we agreed to increase to 5. After we discussed the results, we started talking about SA in general. I showed him Sleeyhead and he had never seen that software so was really interested in what we can see. He also liked the sheep with the CPAP. He was on TV in Australia on an a current affairs show and he was talking about Provent, we talked about it and his recommendation is only to use it for mild SA or when travelling and not wanting to carry a CPAP. I spoke to him about my body and how it is changing, my hair is growing thicher, my eyesight is improving and I went for my annual skin check on Monday and some moles are disappearing and all others are getting lighter, he said my bodies immune system had been braking down before I was diagnosed and it is starting to get better and over time all my tissues and cells will improve. Upon leaving, I shook my sleep specialists hand and gave him a 'man hug', I don't know how else you thank someone for saving your life. I see him in 12 months and another sleep study in 3-5 years, thanks for listening.

Thanks for sharing this Terry and was great to hear of such a good consultation, and especially how keen he was to listen to you (the patient) for your own recommendations, along with having an interest in how you're managing your own treatment and are able to check your progress through SleepyHead's software :)  We need more medics like this!

I've only heard a few positive reports about the Provent in mild cases of OSA, but products like this and the mandibular devices would be good for travel and emergencies when they work for people.

It's so encouraging to hear stories like this, and especially as I remember you telling us what a broken man you were not too long ago :-)

Thanks Kath

Soft Cap

some time ago I was told that Hope2Sleep was researching a replacement for the discontinued Soft Cap.. as I have seen nothing to indicate moving forward on this, would I be right in assuming you decided it is no longer relevant?See More

Pressure waking me up. Belching and wind
