Quick question, see wot u think...if im having Seizures due to the Citalopram, why is it just at night,if its an side effect would i not feel it during the day as well ? its a point hubbys just made..Thanks paula x x x

Good point Paula's hubby!  Do you take the medication on an evening or in a morning, as this could be the key?  Due to the fact that anti-depressants make sleep apnoea worse, doctors are advised to give their patients a suitable tablet to be taken in the morning.

Anyone reading this, please DO NOT stop taking any anti-depressants without liaising with your doctor, and even though they can make sleep apnoea worse, nevertheless they are still necessary at times.  Our emotional health is just as important as our physical health - just like our sleep is just as important as a good diet and exercise.

Would that not be because they are a certain type of siezure ie "Nocturnal" and as Kath says, it also may depend on when you take your medication but it might also be a combination of tiredness and the tablets.  Hey to be honest Paula, I could do with some of your medication, it must be nice to feel so chilled.  It wouldn't mean that you couldn't try another tablet, there are a few different ones but you'd need to have a break between them.

aww great advice by u both... i do take the tabs at nite,so i'm gonna miss tonite and start taking them about 10am in the morning. On tues try to get in with docs have a chat, see if he wants me to stop taking them ,and maybe try something else when they are out of my system and 1st oct see the neurology person...every area is covered then...got there in end..i now have a plan..Thanks Kath,Julie.....Julie i think my family are more happier i'm on the chill out tabs..hahaha im not as stressed out, anxious or worried, big difference they have made,i will be upset to come off them...whatever will be will be...Thanks u both have helped loads..x x

Paula, please don't change when you take your tablets until you've spoken with your GP.  Make sure he says it's ok to take them in a morning as he's the expert.  You may not even have to come off them at all ;) but a good consultation with the GP will confirm this.  Even if you do, there are other types of anti-depressants out there, which people sometimes need at certain times in their lives.

Thanks Kath..will do..cant wait see doc now!!  my docs is bad for appointments though,so i'll proberly end up goin mad on fone,haha...will let u know wot doc adviced..x

Ok,Been Docs, she was really good... She said i dont have to stop taking them, its such a low dose 10mg..she said ,if its a side effect it doesnt know the time so i would feel unwell during the day,and it doesnt matter if i take tab at nite r morning cause its a 24hrs drug its always in my system..she said its unlikely them thats causeing my siezures cause im not ill any other time...so im sticking to having them..Hubbys Chuffed!! hahaha...she siad shes gonna wait and see wot my results r of the Neurology and take it from there!! Thanks All x x

Good to hear you've had it checked out with the GP and that her advice has pleased you both :)  Hope the consultation at neurology can get to the bottom of your seizure problem, and they'll no doubt want to know what medication you're on.

Good luck!

Hi Paula, that is good news, glad you went to see your doc, at least you can rule out the pills which hopefully will give you peace of mind.   Have you put your name down for a cancellation, you might get seen quicker that way.

All the best!

Julie

Hi,Kath,Julie..its defo give me peace of mind...im happy still to take my "Chill out" tabs..hahahaha....maybe when i start getting a good nites sleep i might not need them anymore..(Hopefully)..no not had a Cancellation name down thing..my appointment is 4 wks away, might be worth foning but its not long off,so either way is ok...Thanks to u both u have been amazing, its good to Chat!! will let u know the outcome x x
