Too young and thin for Sleep Apnoea?
My eldest daughter has struggled for years with incredible snoring, sinus problems and constant tiredness.....she is 32, fit and healthy and weighs just under 8 stone (I remember the days well....). Her GP is currently going along the 'let's sort out the sinus problems first' which is fare enough but has said clearly that the next step would be sleep test. I seem to remember seeing or hearing about some nasal strips you can buy to give an indication of SA - can you help me? Has anyone used these?

Your daughter is definitely not too thin or young for sleep apnoea. You should see some of the young slim toddlers I've come across who are sufferers. Had these youngsters not been discovered early there's no knowing the damage undiagnosed sleep apnoea could have caused them.
It's good that her GP is thinking of a sleep study as the 2nd step, but I'd be inclined to swap the priorities around and have him refer her straight away. She can (and should) still have her sinuses looked into, and if she discovers she does have sleep apnoea, then has surgery on her sinuses, another sleep study after the operation will prove if it's helped. I do have to say though that most people don't get cured after sinus surgery, but it usually makes CPAP more comfortable and can lower the amount of apnoeas/hypopnoeas.
The Sleep Strip you're referring to is the little device we normally sell which monitors the breathing. You can see it here http://www.hope2sleep.co.uk/products/29 However, the bad news is that it's impossible to get hold of them at the moment as the manufacturers are having some production problem and there are no signs of them being available soon. I've recently been helping a lady who strongly suspect she's got OSA, and she found this App for her android 'phone which does a similar thing https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ashwin.apnea There will be similar Apps available for iphones. I have no idea of their accuracy and they won't be as accurate as the sleep strips, but might help.

I'll be blunt: Some people have been found dead as a result of sleep apnoea. May I urge you to press for an overnight study to be performed as quickly as possible? Please?
My sister knows a tragic case in which a mother was diagnosed with SA after an overnight study. The woman had a second titration study scheduled to determine the right machine, right pressure, etc., etc. But before her second overnight could take place, her nine year old son found her dead in bed.
To be sure, sleep apnoea death is uncommon BUT it does occur. I am so mindful of this (admittedly small) risk that I won't even take a nap unless I'm wearing my mask and am attached to my CPAP.
Please press ahead and have the study performed.

Gadabout, I agree with Kath and ZolliStar, too many times Dr's try to eliminate issues and leave the glaring one till last. At worst, a sleep study will rule Sleep Apnea in or out. I also believe nose and throat operations are very painful and have limited success. I think most of us on here have learnt the hard way, we have to take this into our our hands when it comes to the medical profession, I wish your daughter luck with whatever the diagnosis.

That's so sad ZolliStar - to be so so close, yet so far
I'm the same as you - I use my CPAP for ALL sleep/naps, but pleased to say that naps are a rare necessity now I'm on treatment.
