Best Mask if you have Facial Hair
I work overseas and have had sleep problems for years, our medics advise I see my doctor asap and I have an appointment next week when I return to the UK. It seems almost certain I will be purchasing a CPAP machine soon. As I have a light facial hair can anyone advise what would the most suitable mask to use and why.

Welcome to the forum David, and hope you get the outcome you need when you see the Dr. If you do have to use CPAP, there are a variety of masks that are better used with facial hair, and if you check out the Blog I wrote on choosing masks, you'll see a section dedicated to facial hair http://www.sleepapnoeablog.com/choosing-a-cpap-bipap-masks-for-slee...
If you need to buy a machine you can purchase them direct from the manufacturers here in the UK.

David, welcome, from a male point of view I think it will depend on what mask you get, you should be Ok with nasal pillows or a nasal mask. I use a full face mask and don't have a beard but are hairy, I wash my face each night before bed and use a mask liners they solves the problem of facial hair. Let us know when and what you get.

Swift FX and the Sleepweaver masks spring to mind as being great and compatible with facial hair. Both are nasal only but will be worth a try!

I have just read Novembers email from Kath and about the new Responics Amara mask which I have just reviewed on the web site ! I was given the mask 2 weeks ago at my new clinic in South Wales having moved from Leicester 18 months ago.
I have a full set of facial hair which I need to have trimmed every 2 weeks as it grows so fast! With this new Amara mask I find super with very few leaks and I am definitely sleeping better with my AHI numbers dropping! lets hope it continues.......

I have a full beard and tried various types of mask and find the best masks are the pillow type (Fit direct into the nostril) They suffer with less leakage.
