Dreamwear mask

Longtime readers of this forum may remember I've lamented the discontinuation of the Respironics Comfort Curve mask. It was like no other, with a nasal pillow without prongs that sat under the nose. The hose was like a stethoscope. When I found they'd been discontinued I ordered a couple from the US, and have held them together with sticky tape for years!
I've tried a couple of nasal pillow masks since, but don't get on with the prongs. The best I've found is the cloth Circadiance Sleepweaver (a brilliant spare to pack in your luggage, as it disappears to nothing) and by its nature, you don't get rainout. But I've always gone back to the Comfort Curve.
When the Respironics Dreamwear came out, I took a chance and ordered one from the US last October. Nine months on, here's a review. It's really quite good. Like the CC, it sits under the nose, without prongs, so it doesn't irritate the nostrils. And it comes with a selection of pillow sizes, to get a good fit. I don't like the fact that the hose comes out the top of your head, as I sleep on my side (used to sleep on my tummy before the CPAP) and when you roll from side to side, you drag the hose around. I was concerned that the supply tubes down either side of my face would be crushed flat as I lie on them, but with one not crushed there's adequate air supply. It's also free from rainout, unlike the CC.
All in all, I think the Dreamwear is good, and I'm hoping that my NHS clinic (who supply Respironics) will offer me a replacement one next time I visit.
In the meantime, I'm keeping the old Comfort Curves in the bottom drawer. We've spent some good times together :)

Only just seen your post Jonathan. Glad you like the DreamWear - it's proving a real hit here in the UK. You were lucky to get one cheaper from the USA as they're not supposed to ship Respironics products over here, so you'd best not name the company lol.
I wish I could use the DreamWear but need to mouth-breathe. However, when I trialled it I loved the way the hose is placed at the top of the head. Do you use a hose lift, as I found it worked great with the fact the hose lift angles the tube above you, and had no drag of the hose when turning from side to side (I too sleep on my side).
It too was amazed by the fact that even when you lay on the frame tube on one side, adequate air comes through the other side.
For me, being a mouth breather, I'm loving the Amara View. However, like you with your favourite old mask, I still love my FitLife that rescued me several years ago when I was struggling to find a mask for me :)

I bought the DreamWear before it was available in the UK. I know that Respironics (and ResMed?) don't allow their products to be shipped outside the USA. However, I used Shipito.com who provide a US address and then onward ship to the UK. This worked REALLY well, as I was able to complete the customs declaration (medical equipment - personal use) and was therefore not charged import duty or tax. When I purchased previously from another US supplier (CPAP.com) they would put a medical declaration inside the shipping documents, but not on the customs label. As a result, you end up paying a handling charge for customs, and the import duties and taxes. Even though you can claim back the taxes from HM Revenue & Customs (takes months!) you don't get the handling charges back.
The hose thing doesn't really bother me. With me and my partner both on CPAP, the bedroom has some strange S&M feel to it already. I don't want to add hose lifts and add "hospital" too :)
I used to be a mouth-breather. After a few years of CPAP, I am now a nose breather (the test being that I can talk when wearing the mask!). It has made visits to the dentist much easer, as I no longer feel like I'm drowning when the dentist is in full flight.
