I unplugged emils machine this mornin as I was moving his cot around I never unplug it but when I plugged it back in it sed the HI index was 5 never seen it before so what's it for I'm assuming it's the hypopenea but what exactly does it
mean am I supposed to unplug it everytime it's used to see this?

Interesting! Which machines do you rate highly Rock, if you don't mind me asking? I've just got the Encore Viewer software for my Phillips Respironics System One, so looking forward to getting to grips with it :)

He doesn't ave it On auto tho he has his Pressure fIxed by the resp they don't use auto on kids here but the machine can do auto if needed just not used by emil

We all took turns wearing the machines in auto mode while we were awake. After about an hour most of the machines were at high pressures. They were counting swallowing, breath pauses, and talking as events. The Resmed algorithm seemed to have the most problems with this. Many people with Resmeds say to ignore the HI as long as the AI is below 5.
I will see if I can scrounge up a manual fro that particular machine.

I am not a fan of any machine set to an auto range of 4-20. I believe that these parameters lead to unwarrented pressure increases. This type of treatment is just not good therapy(in my opinion). I believe this to be more of a nightly titration. I use a a Resmed s8 Auto machine set to 9-11cm. I am also a big fan of the Respironics PR1.
