Hello Gina. I know what a struggle it can be, but keep at it and it really will become easier. I am still having ahi's of 21. I went down to 15 but for some reason my ahi's are up again. Getting used to the mask is the main thing. Why don't you wear it for little times during the day, Have your ahi's got lower? I bought a tube of cpap cream from hope2sleep shop. for sore patches on my face, from mask, and it works really well. Don't give up as the benefits are many.

Hi Gina,

I am struggling also but am going to keep at it.  I am not altogether sure why I keep waking up but I am..usually I see every hour on the clock as well though..although for a couple of the nights I managed a 3 hr sleep without a  break, so keep at it and hopefully it will get better. I have no suggestions for you Gina, sorry as I am not long been using cpap myself. I am waiting on a hose lift and huggie to arrive and hopefully they will help me as rainout is also a problem for me at the minute. Good luck I hope the face protectors help your.  Sorry I have no ideas to help you :(

Glad to hear you've made some progress Gina.  Getting your successful CPAP treatment going is a 'journey' and some people have to take a longer one than others.  Even when things are bobbing along just nicely, problems can still rear up, but thankfully with good advice they can usually be sorted.

My advice would be what has already been suggested......the Hose Lift and the CPAP Moisture Therapy Cream, so as soon as you've recovered from the xmas spending, I would treat yourself and am sure you won't be disappointed.  With you living locally you can pick them up too and save postage :)

Isla, your hose lift and cover will be on their way to you tomorrow, so you should have them by Tuesday.

Gina, Do you take any medication to relax you at night. I take Valerian Forte which is a herbal product and I am a lot more relax during the night than I used to be. You can just take something until you settle down. Try the remzzs mask liners, if they work you can make your own and as Kath said get a Hoselift if you don't already have one.

thanks all for your help i am going back to sleep clinic on friday be glad when its here last night i went to bed with out my cpap as i was really fed up !! but even thought i only sleep for an hour at a time i felt worse not using it so i suppose it is back to trying again xx

well ive had to stop working till i get some sleep !!!! so i hope i get some joy on friday x

ive had to go to see the DR and she has put me on sleeping tablets to help me till i get used to cpap but ive now been reading that you should not take sleeping tablets is this right ?? or do i wait untill i go to clinic on friday x

Gina, sleeping tablets will make the apnoeas worse.  If it were me I would hang on until Friday.  At least our clinic don't make us wait too long, unlike poor Mike on here who had to wait 6 weeks.  They will do their best for you and hopefully some of the comfort products will help too.  I know this might feel like a nightmare at the moment, but you hang in there as once you've got your treatment going you will feel so much better than before your diagnosis.
