Shorter Hose
As i said in a previous discussion, my ahi's have gone back up to 25. I thought it was because I had started to use a much longer hose. Well I put my origional length hose back on to see if this changes things. I am sorry to say that this has made no difference at all. I am hoping to see my sleep nurse as soon as possible to try and sort this out. Her secretary said she would phone me tomorrow or sometime this week.

Carolyn, I she doesn't call tomorrow, I would be on the phone to her everyday until you get to speak to her even a coupke of times a day. It may be annoying to them but this is your health and you have to look after yourself. Is there anywhere else you can go? In Australia we have sleep centres all over the place that can check machines etc. I only go to one because I am happy with mine, I can ring up and see someone that day and the lady I see puts up with me. Not sure what it's like in the UK, Kath maybe able to give you more suggestions.

Hello Terry, I only transfered to this clinic as it only 10 mins up the road. I Hadn't used it for a few years so this is a new start at new clinic. I'll beat, not literally, I've met a few b***** nurses with all of my problems. If I don't get what I need from them I go higher up the ladder to her boss. I think this is the action I will end up taking. The nurses don't expect you to know that you can go direct to boss. I do and I will.

Carolyn, Did you get a call from the b***h nurse today? I'm in Australia and have to remember the time difference, I think it's 10.52pm in England. It's 9.52am on Tuesday here in Australia.

Carolyn, I've been thinking..... I thought the display on your machine only shows up a 7 day accumulation of your AHI, so how do you know it was still at 25 after only 1 night's use with the shorter hose? Forgive me if I'm wrong, but without the software I don't think you can check 1 night's usage, or did the sleep clinic clarify this? I would stick with the shorter hose for longer and see what happens after 7 days. Hopefully, the hospital will be in touch before then though.

Hello Kath. I expected to see some change after 1 night on shorter hose. But I was mistaken. I will see what it says after 7 days. Still waiting for nurse to phone.

Opiates repress the respiratory drive. You need o2 treatment or an ASV. Personally I think ASV may be overkill and not help. I would start with 2L of oxygen while you sleep.
