Sleep Apnoea Forum Bringing Help + Support to the Patient

Preparing my talk for tomorrow's radio show when we're intending to raise awareness of Sleep Apnoea to the Croydon area (and hopefully beyond) on why so many snorers suffer daytime fatigue and why it's very important to check for Sleep Apnoea, as untreated it is very dangerous! I'll be pointing out this is not just for overweight men, as it affects both sexes and children too!  Dave Etheridge the presenter will also be sharing his own story of how he struggled through life unaware he was a sufferer.

Please share + tune in if you can on Monday, 27th January at 11 am http://www.croydonradio.com/

good luck Kath, I'll listen on to the podcast afterwards.

Kath, I wish you success in putting over your vital message.

I do so agree that it is critically important that people who are not aware that they have sleep apnoea are alerted to the great dangers that it has to their physical and mental health.

I'm a fit slim person and my GP disputed that I believed that I had sleep apnoea but nevertheless referred  me to a respiratory consultant.

I had been a heavy snorer for at least five years and did not realise how oxygen starved my brain and body had been during sleep. As a result I have been banned from driving.

When I saw the results of the data recorded on my SD card for the first two days of using my ResMed APAP machine I was horrified. After 30 days the result was a transformation.

Thanks Terry + Michael.  I'm still preparing what I intend saying, and you know me.... I can speak forever about sleep apnoea but I only have an hour!  I shall certainly be stressing how it can affect slim people (in fact all 3 of us in this discussion didn't have a weight problem, and neither do the 1 in 30 children - most of whom still need diagnosing).  Will do my best guys, but will no doubt cringe at myself on the podcast afterwards as I hate the sound of my own voice

Kath.

Feel free to use my actual graphs if you so wish. They may shock unbelievers into action.
I'll make a note to listen in to the 11am show tomorrow and if it is possible to contribute I will.

Mike

Good luck Kath -  so impeotant that everyone is made aware of osa... especially those not fitting the normal type.  I'll listen to the podcast too.

Good Luck Kath

Tried to listen in, but unfortunately we couldn't manage to tune in. You are only about 45 minutes away from me, so close yet so far.

Again, good luck and get the word spread.

Lady Jan.

Jan, I'm listening to Croydon Radio on my PC right now. Click here for the web address ( http://www.croydonradio.com/player/ )

Well done Kath.  I'm sure it was stressful, but you came across very naturally (and passionately!).

Is there a podcast or other replay of this show?

Thanks everyone for your support and comments too.  I'm working right now on the podcast and will post it up here as soon as I can (hopefully in the morning).

The Podcast is ready to listen to now.

I was looking forward to listening to the radio show but after a few minutes I switched off.

All I was hearing was percentages %%%%%

A simple statement that if you have sleep apnea your oxygen levels can get vey low whilst you are sleeping.

Your body needs oxygen and if it does not get it then the health of the various organs in your body can get effected.

Sorry to be so critical but I did switch off.

1st time and I’ve failed the mask leak test

Hi everyone, today I received my rental kit - prisma smart max, plus a Philips dreamwear mask which I’ve been wearing unconnected to try and get used to it. I just did a mask fit test using a medium mask and got a constant red/orange leak warning…See More
