A medical bracelet is not a bad idea. I would not worry to much about fainting. The brain has a way of getting us through the difficult times. Do not buy into the hype Paula. Your body has most likely been fighting this for a very long time. The difference now is that you are helping it out. You should wear you PAP when sleeping as much as possible. However a few minutes to a few hours without would be ok.
I would hope that our bodies would look after us at times like these (like we've been protected up to now and lived to tell the tale).  However, I think a medical card is a good idea to carry with us so that if we were ever in an emergency then the paramedics/hospital would be alerted to the fact that our airways get obstructed - in the same vein that when we go into hospital for general anaesthetics they need to know, and our CPAP goes with us.  It's funny you should ask this question now too, as we're in progress of having medical cards printed to sell on the website (www.hope2sleep.co.uk).  I'll let you all know when they're ready.
Thanks,i feel better..i will DEFO buy one of them cards, defo let us know when they r ready!! A Brilliant idea,u will sell loads!!  Thanks to both of you x x

As I read this thread I thought of this very strange obsession which I have now developed just a few weeks ago.   Every night before I put my mask on I check for spiders LOL.   Then I start thinking if one is trapped in the mask or in the tube and I don't find it then as the wind gets up and I fall fast asleep, I'll swallow it whole LOL.   Sorry folks having a mad half hour here!

Another thing I've notice is after I've put my mask on I pop into bed and lie there for about 10 seconds thinking somthing isn't right here, then realise I haven't switched the pump on!!!

LOL.  However, the Australians do have to be vigilante about this.  Was also reading lately of someone in the USA who had their mask sprayed by a skunk through the bedroom window.  Reckon we should be thankful.  By the way, a lot of machines have an automatic setting so that when you put your mask on it starts up.  I use this setting all the time, as I too used to forget!

No need to fret about spiders and bugs in your hose or mask - easy to deal with because you can see them (unless you've swallowed it already!). The ones to be concerned about are the ones which may be breeding in your humidifier, the ones you can't see, the ones that infect your lungs and air passges.

How to fix? Good hygene and an ozone sterilizer for the whole machine and humidifier. Don't forget to vent before using afterwards!!

Ewwwww..somet else worry about!!! i do clean it out every other day, baby shampoo and distilled vinegar,Rinse well and change water every day!! not heard of the ozone sterilizer?? Thanks for advice!! x x x

If you're really worried about spiders or unwanted critters, just stuff a handkerchief into the mask during the day, to stop anything crawling in there.

The medical card is a good idea. You can also get various medical tags, jewellery etc.

1st time and I’ve failed the mask leak test

Hi everyone, today I received my rental kit - prisma smart max, plus a Philips dreamwear mask which I’ve been wearing unconnected to try and get used to it. I just did a mask fit test using a medium mask and got a constant red/orange leak warning…See More
